Does TV stop people from communicating?

I was gonna say no because when TV is on me and my family will usually talk about what is on TV.

But now I’m gonna say it depends because there have been plenty of times growing up and still to this day where I have tried to talk to my parents about something important to me only to be met with “Shut up”, “I’m trying to watch this”, “why do you choose now to talk when we’re all clearly trying to enjoy TV”, heavy sighs and mumbling “why did I even bother taping this?”

Now yeah I get that somebody talking over your favourite show can be annoying but if someone has something important they need to talk to you about then couldn’t you just pause it? Is your show really more important than what I have to say?

What do you guys think?
Does TV stop people communicating or is it just the people themselves?

I talk to people about TV plenty, and its really not that hard to pause it (although I’ve met people who don’t like doing that)

I’ll also say no but because I barely watch tv and I still don’t communicate :joy:

No… I talk to people who’re on the TV :grinning:
Or more like shout at them for making dumb decisions…

when my father wants to watch something, yes.
it depends on what’s on with my mom, but mostly yes, because they will shush you when you talk through it haha
