Same. She’s so bratty! I read one chapter and got bored of it because of how irritating she already become.
Lolll I know, usually when authors try to make badass and strong females they make them so unlikeable, rude, bratty and controlling lmao.
Yup, i just want an ordinary girl, not weak, not badass
I know right! That’s not female empowerment if they behave like that.
The only awesome stories that have very likeable MCs are:
- Dead Woman Walking
- Mei
- On The Edge
- Swan: Pursuit Of Justice and Long Lost
- The Vet’s Heart
- Maternal Instinct
I couldn’t stand the mc from the Enchantress. I thought it was good at first then the choices started annoying me. Her personality is so bad.
Plus, werecats, I actually like the plotline and the characters but wheb the second LI came into play I had to stop. The main character’s reation killed my interest in the story. Plus, the whole jealous issue.
I didn’t like the girl from the Enchantress, either. Probably because I found it annoying how she couldn’t make up her mind as to whether she wanted to be with her crush or her best friend, and she got all offended that her sister was in love with that guy (the best friend) while she was stringing him and the crush along the whole time. She came across as very selfish in the later part of the story.
Right? God, grownup. Your sister acts more mature than you.
I do want everyone to remember one thing! A lot of times characters grow and transform throughout a story! For example, I have two stories where I dislike my MC at the beginning but love her at the end.
Especially in my story I Broke My Rules for You. My MC, Rosa is a brat at the beginning and I got lots of negative fanmail about her at first, but as it went on, she grows up a lot.
I think that’s what’s fun about writing a difficult MC sometimes… Getting people to change their mind.
Exactly! I was thinking okay high school story. Girl should be a bit more mature. Got a like a episode or two in and was like: “what the h*** is this?”
She acts like she is in middle school not high school. The whole relationship triangle part is a total mess too.
I actually quite like this story, but The Enchantress. The MC is kinda an a$$ to her little sister
Her little sister who makes outfits for her, can I just say
Yep, I didn’t get far but I couldn’t finish it because of how she acted in it. I loved the plotline though. They just messed up on the mc.
I think that the author of The Fool Card made the MC annoying on purpose. She is supposed to be the fool, so it kinda makes sense to me
Anywayyyy I find Lumeria from Prince of Arcadia and Mira from The Otherworld extremely annoying
I think so too but she did a good job on that. We are suppose to react to her cattiness as well.
Exactly, as @Talu said, it’s part of character growth.
True that!
If there’s character growth in stories, I’m okay with it but if the MC continues to be an immature brat throughout the whole story then yes I have a problem with that!
Same!
Exactly!!! Also, the other characters need to acknowledge the fact that the MC is annoying! It’s wayyy too often that whiny and weak MC’s get portrayed as independent and strong by the author and the characters cough Chanel from Breaking Law cough
Tell me about it! Ugh that story is absolutely ridiculous!! Chanel is so bratty and the story is absolutely terrible!!
Another MC I didn’t like was the one from Crushing on Mr. Badboy (?)… I think that was the title. You know, the one that was in the pre-Limelight style where the girl got a makeover to get her crush to notice her, and in the end he liked her as she was… that wasn’t the problem. The reason I didn’t like her was because she insulted her stepmother’s profession (a psychologist) by calling her a ‘third-rate glorified babysitter’. I don’t care how two-faced the stepmother was. You. don’t. insult. a person’s. job. I instantly disliked the MC after that.
Being a psychologist isn’t equal to babysitting. Their job is to listen to the patient’s problems and give them a diagnosis.
Honestly, that story was absolutely terrible. I don’t see the point of her pretending to be some random girl.
