Equity Vs. Equality
Recently I saw this image and it got me thinking about equity and equality. I rarely ever hear about equity (not that I’m much for political view points) but always hear about equality. What’s your view point on this? Would you rather have equity or equality?
Equity. See it this way: let’s imagine a world without middle class, there are only extremely poor people and extremely rich ones. Whoever rules this world sees that there’s a problem and they want to solve it. Equality would mean giving an x amount of money to everyone, rich or poor. How will this help the poorest? Inflation would still leave them in the same position. Equity would mean giving more to the less privileged, this would help them survive better. Do you see the difference?
