Eurovision 2025

Okay, so I’ve thought for quite a while if this year, after all the drama of last year, I wanted to even follow Eurovision, but I decided to go ahead and listen to all the songs that have been published this far for the first time today. And honestly, I’m quite disappointed, nothing really caught my attention yet, but I’ll let you all know if things change in that regard

Also the Dutch song for this year leaked. I was excited about the artist, he has some amazing songs and I’m a fan, but honestly, this song is a tad bit underwhelming too. Still think easy final for the Netherlands tho, but I’ll have to see if we even we end up doing well

Also so much drama already this season I’ve been reading up on the last hour while listening to the songs :sob:
I hope it’s not gonna get as crazy as last year. Also with the Estonian artist of this year collab with Joost Klein with some serious jabs at the EBU in there, there’ll be some tension this year too, I just feel it

Okay time for me to ramble about the Dutch entry. I’ve listened to it 4/5 times by now, and my thoughts.

  • It just plays it safe a little bit too much, like it’s just lacking a little bit in its build up
  • The French used is so basic it’s almost painful
  • I love how it plays with your mind tho, first convincing you that you are listening to some ballad but then twisting it up
  • He can probably really deliver this live, part of me really has hope it’ll actually be elevated with the staging and his life performance. Seeing him tell the story of the song in the video clip made me already enjoy the song much more than when I just listened yesterday
  • My guess is we’ll end up somewhere between 5th and 15th place, I can’t quite see it win or get close to doing so, but I absolutely see him qualifying especially with the relatively weak field this year :sob:

Also some entries really thought this is the 69th Eurovision contest, let’s really run with that as the theme :joy: Ngl tho, the Australian song is lowkey catchy, it’s been on my mind a lot since I heard it first yesterday

Oooh, this is the first song that really surprised me. I mean there is still room for improvement on parts of the vocals but in general it’s so good I think. You go Croatia, it wouldn’t surprise me if we have a Croatia win within 2/3 years with how they’ve been doing

How many countries are in it this year?

Also, added a few more tags.

37, but it was to be 38 but Moldova literally dropped out after the first round of the national selection

Holy sh!t. I never knew it was that many. I always thought it was a few more than 20

It’s always 2 semi finals with somewhere between 15 and 17 participants, of which 10 go through to the final. And then 6 countries get automatically added to the finals as they pay the most (UK, Spain, Germany, Italy, France and the previous year winner), so final is always 26.

Sigh. That’s a bit gross that six of them automatically get in based on the money contributed.

Yeah I absolutely agree especially as a lot of their songs are actually trash and shouldn’t make it past the semi-finals

And the drama continues…
The Maltese song has been banned and they have 6 days to make changes and get rid of the word kant completely, which like the whole song is based on the play of words
And this was arguably the least bad of the 3 songs I listed earlier
It feels a bit unfair that especially the Finnish song is fine directly having “I’m coming” over and over in the lyrics and as title with very suggestive staging, but the Maltese word for singing can’t be included because it is too close to like an English slur?
Smh, EBU is already disappointing me so much this year

Okay Austria serving winner vibes for real

I don’t usually follow Eurovision but it’s kinda invaded my fyp so I’ve heard all the songs :joy:

Luxembourg’s entry has been stuck in my head for days
