Maybe Haldir approaches Alcibiades thinking he’s a beast that found it’s way inside the school and he should duel it to beat it, like a dragon in old tales where a maiden must be rescued or something like it, but before he starts to fight he realises Alcibiades comprehended what he was about to do as he grabbed his sword or dagger and said “Please don’t hurt me, not again” or something like that (not as something a scarred person would say but rather an annoyed person who had something like this happen to him quite a lot) and they start talking. Haldir talks like he would talk to him as you would wish he would talk to him, but Alcibiades would be distrustful of him because let’s face it, even though he might be more accepting of him than he would’ve thought, Alcibiades still finds humans untrustworthy and the few exceptions are some of the teachers
EDIT: They would also bond on the fact they’re both older than usually humans are
