Heya!
SPOILER WARNING FOR TANGLED:
Well, I had this idea after seeing Tangled (love that movie so much!) and I was like ok, so Flynn (Eugene) created his persona that he read in a book because he was an orphan and he wanted to be someone else, someone whom he thought was much better than him. So, I was like ok, what if there is a vague god or goddess of identities I searched and it didn’t turn up anything, so I was like ok well there’s tons of stories about searching for identity, both real and fiction. So, I then thought of the muses and thought it’d be cool to have that fake identity/persona be central to the character on her journey into finding her own identity.
and here we are so far, I decided to base some of them off of some stereotypes in some of the most well-read genres:
First I should probably explain that their “power” is polymorphing which is basically shapeshifting, but it’s shapeshifting everything, their thoughts, feelings, interests, gender (m to f, etc), everything. It’s basically creating a literal identity for herself and then changing everything about her to fit that identity. Their arc would basically be coming to terms with themselves and finally choosing their identity, with the help of their partner or partners (as she’d literally be a different person, so I’d imagine that could attract different people who could end up playing a role in that): (basically acting, lol)
New character idea
________ has always struggled with identity, she has tried poetry, painting, singing, and all of the other arts-like things none yielded any success. This realization being in a big family where the rest of her siblings have already found their ‘thing’, and she hasn’t. The realization that she is already 16 doesn’t know who she really is or wants to be yet, really struck a chord with her and sent her spiraling both mentally and emotionally. So, she whenever she felt like this she turned to her two favorite pastimes, reading and watching TV, she would envy how all of her favorite characters, every single one knew exactly who they were, who they wanted to be, and where they wanted to go, so much. Until one day, it got too much to bear so to relieve some of that stress and anxiety she decided to keep a list of all the traits and beliefs and just every little thing that made her favorite characters, well, her favorite characters in the hopes that it could help her find her own thing.
After several nights of doing this over and over again, she would subconsciously begin to filter and sort this list of traits and one day woke up a very different girl…to everyone else. To her, she had always been the same girl and was confused as to why everyone else called her a different name. She was taken to a several different kinds of doctors and they all said she was in perfect health, mentally, emotionally, and physically despite, looking, acting, and talking like a completely different person. Her family couldn’t explain it that is until the next night when their dear sister…became their dear brother. Only then did they finally put together that their sister was the muse of identity, something everyone searches for, _______ harder than most.
Identity #1 (18 f): Smart, headstrong, courageous, and adventurous, ________ is the daughter of a private investigator. _______’s intense love of solving mysteries is only matched by her strong desire to help others and her self-drive to accomplish her goals. She’s outspoken and is one to foresee potential problems and prepares for/deals with as many of them as she can. (Nancy Drew vibes)
(Gonna see if the FC for the actress who plays her is available)
Identity #2 (19 m): Bad boy (romance novel type)
Identity #3: (17 m): “Final guy” (horror movie type) ~ actually unsold on gender of this one
I hope it’s not as stupid as it sounds!
How are you doing?
I’m doing okay. How are you?
I’m afraid it sounds like a really stupid idea so imma go!
