OLIVE MCCANN

Olive’s eyes gleamed as Ewan shifted. This was just getting better and better. All the nice bits of human were still there (the torso and brain, obviously), as well as a whole bunch of horse, too. Olive’s mouth practically watered at the thought of it. Ewan still stood at least a metre short of her, no match for Olive’s height, or her teeth.
“So… I don’t think this is the Advanced Mathematics classroom, right?”
Startled slightly by the new noise, one of Olive’s many eyes fastened on the newcomer, a small boy, staring at Olive and Ewan with an unreadable, and most likely bored, expression.
“No, it’s not,” Olive crackled, her mouth stretching into a grin. “And you, little boy, shall be dessert.” She added, with a small, but decisive nod.
Alright, scaring time was over. Olive was far too big in this form to be very maneuverable, so she changed, again. Smaller, lankier, a fluid monstrosity who’s main priority was killing and eating. A snake-like form, long, twisted, strong and impossibly fast. Perfect for the hunt.
In her new form, Olive swiftly pulled the newcomer through the door, blocking the exit effectively and wrapping herself many times around Ewan and the newcomer. Smiling, she opened her mouth, fully prepared to swallow Ewan in one, large, gulp.

ONYX

Onyx watched carefully as the boy moved his hand. As the grass died, their eyes widened, glancing up to his face, searching for any hint of aggression. There was none. He didn’t want to kill them, hopefully. Onyx hated that word. Hopefully never did anyone a lot of good.
However, Onyx had caught to look of concentration on the boy’s face, as well as the fact that he needed to touch the grass. Ok. Think rationally. This is a scare tactic.
"My father is Death.” The boy stated, as if it was the most normal thing in the world. Ok, Onyx could play that game. Shuffling just a little further away from the boy, just to be on the safe side, Onyx shrugged.
“Mine’s a swan.” They replied, watching the boy’s every move. Onyx wanted to leave so bad right now; but to leave was to betray weakness. Onyx may be paranoid, they may be searching for signs of aggression at every point, but that didn’t mean they ran away from it. I fight fire with fire, and someone’s gonna get burned.
“I’m assuming you have to touch someone to do that.” Onyx nooded to the grass, never taking their eyes off of the boy. Pretend not to care. Fight fire with fire.

COLM MCCANN

“I don’t want to go then I want to stay here im just not used to people not being mad or yelling or anything when I mess up or do something like that even.”
“Well, you don’t have to worry about that when you’re with me,” Colm replied gently. Their heart listed slightly as they recognised that Brooks was calming a little, starting to think a bit more rationally. All that was good, but even still - Colm could see that Brooks looked small, fragile now. They were calmer but their cards were simmering, on the verge of boiling over once again.
“We can still be friends right?”
“Of course,” Colm replied, grinning. “That’s what I’ve been saying,” He added gently. Brooks still wasn’t making eye contact, but maybe it wasn’t needed. They looked so small… alone.
As Brooks’ sentence trailed off, Colm knew that was his signal to act.
Standing, they closed the distance between themselves and Brooks in two short strides, wrapping the kid in their arms, hugging them close. No words were needed, not now.
