“Oh?” Téo looked surprised that Lorelai knew French. She only smirked-not like it was hard to learn or anything. Actually, Lorelai knew all sorts of languages other than English, including Greek, Spanish, and Mandarin. Learning them had been incredibly easy-almost natural. How had she learned? She’d been given the best tutors her parents could find. And even better, the way in which the lessons were given were entirely up to Lorelai. When she wasn’t in the mood, she would dismiss her tutors to go shopping with her friends. She would often snack while they worked, eating sugar-dusted strawberries whilst laying on a plushy red couch. Perhaps that was why Lorelai had such fond memories of school and classes-though she had teachers, she was the one in charge. To Lorelai, the surprise seemed to be pleasant surprise, so she allowed herself to bathe in the admiration of the handsome blonde mortal once more. “Vous parlez français?” His voice was smooth. Her eyes flicked to his pink lips as he spoke. “Oui.” Her response was only one word-meaning ‘yes’. Though it wasn’t much to prove she knew French-that was common knowledge. “Ah, juste au moment quand je pense que vous ne pouvez plus m’intruiguer, vous trouvez un autre façon à faire exactement ça.” Lorelai allowed her cheeks to redden-very slightly. She wasn’t really the type to get all giggly about the kind of thing she heard every day. Still, she would be lying if she said the blush was forced. “Dois-je donc m’arrêter? J’aime tenir les garçons en haleine.” “Should I stop, then? I like to keep boys on their toes.” She raised an eyebrow and pursed her lips-she was only teasing-it would be interesting to see if he could keep up with that.
She could feel it between her brows-a slight crease-a wrinkle, really, but the word alone disgusted Lorelai. She resisted the urge to slip her hand into the pocket of her shorts and take out her ruby-encrusted hand mirror to check and try to smooth it away before it became permanent. And it mostly disappeared when Téo said Lorelai was one of the prettiest names he had ever heard. ‘One of the prettiest’? Lorelai was scowling on the inside, though she kept the small, sly smile on her face-her usual one. She wondered whose name could top hers. “Thank you, Téo.” His name rolled off her tongue, stretched out only the tiniest bit. Though she could not return the compliment, she felt that just saying his name would suffice. He looked amused as he inquired further about her greeting. Did he think she was silly? Lorelai tried not to feel insulted-he was lucky he was handsome. Still, perhaps she could be optimistic about the power she had-she could influence his thoughts this way-by giving him advice. Perhaps he trusted her already. it’s not that deep, Lorelai, ethie just gets tired at midnight “Not everyone can pull off that greeting,” She advised thoughtfully, her teeth tugging at her bottom lip. “But I think you’re handsome enough to pull it off.”
Any displeasure left completely disappeared as he leaned in closer to her. “Really? That is so cool, wow, I’ve never even looked at a god before, and like, here you are, talking with me.” Téo’s excitement made it clear as glass to Lorelai-he was not a god. Which didn’t really make any difference-though she liked how she’d been right. She didn’t prioritize that sort of thing too much for romantic relationships-she focused more on looks. And Téo was definitely good-looking. She adjusted her shoulders, smiling at him, clearly flattered. She let out a little laugh, “It’s not a big deal.” She couldn’t keep the smile off her face, her tone was more joking than rude, with a hint of pride. Obviously, Lorelai did not truly believe this, she just knew this would pull in even more flattery. An exclamation such as ‘not a big deal?!’ followed by another round of compliments would do nicely. “What’s it like? Is it like how they say in the stories, all fun?” Ah, and there was the parade of questions-Lorelai did not mind them one bit. It made her feel like a celebrity-she did consider herself a celebrity. She tilted her head as well, wondering if having her hair down would’ve made her look more attractive. “Oh, it’s fun. All fun.” She confirmed smiling smugly. “I couldn’t imagine anything better.” Though she sounded pleased, she did not necessarily sound grateful. “I spent a lot of time in the ocean. My dad’s Poseidon.”
He seemed to hesitate before answering-it was hard to answer after the person in front of you told you they were a full-fledged goddess-Lorelai understood that. Though she didn’t do anything to reassure him, she just waited. Téo shrugged slightly, “Would you believe me if I said I was a prince?” He smirked-a smirk a lot more innocent than Lorelai’s. She tilted her head, smirking right back. “Why not? You’re handsome enough.” She answered-figuring he was not a prince, then. Honestly, it sounded quite arrogant not that Lorelai ever cared about that, but she didn’t really care if he were a peasant who tended to the stables, or next in line to become a king. Nothing compared to her parentage, so she was hard to impress-at least in that way.
