Bobbie’s mouth fell open when Nyana admitted to never having heard of doo-wop. “You 'haven’t? Doo-wop is brilliant. It’s sorta like this-” Then she started to quietly sing her favourite doo-wop tune, Sh-Boom.
"Life could be a dream
Sh-bang, if I could kill you for the 'eaven that is above
If you will tell me I’m the only one wearing gloves
Life could be a dream, doctah, hello, hello again
Sh-bang and hopin’ we’ll meet again, bang."
Once again, singing her own version of what she thought the lyrics were to these popular songs. Bobbie stopped singing and said, “Yes, yes we should. We should meet up an’ sing until our 'earts are content.”
She said that a big place could be suffocating sometimes and this left a look of confusion on Bobbie’s face. “How? I though’ suffocatin’ was when you felt like there wasn’t much air.” Bobbie took a moment to imagine what walking the school halls alone would be like and smiled. “Then I could sing as loud as I liked, yeah?” Nyana asked what growing up in London was like and Bobbie was excited to share. “It was great. Yeah, London can be lonely too, when no one is around, but it can also be thrivin’. Some people say the smog is really bad but I like it, it smells like home. Walkin’ the streets an’ meetin’ new faces as they do their thing, it’s great.”
