She couldn’t help a genuine amused smile at that. “Touche. But something tells me that stuff you’re putting on everything isn’t exactly helping the food anymore than I am.” she mumbled to herself, sneaking one of the profiteroles that had yet to be spiked by this guy.
“My dating coach told me that mystery gives me a sort of edgy quality. So either I reveal my identity, or protect my reputation.” He shrugged. “Then again, she also told me stalking was an excellent form of seduction.”
She actually snorted at that. Was he actually trying to ‘seduce’ her? Did he think that would actually work? Sure, he was good looking, but Umbria wasn’t so desperate for that kind of attention that she would easily get distracted by a chiselled jaw and a sultry smirk. She tilted her head as he leaned on the table, raising a brow as she curiously waited to see what he would do next.
“I’m sure you’re familiar with the story of Hansel and Gretel, yes? A lonely witch and a delectable assortment of edible children?”
“That depends, there are a lot of different versions. Though, if you’re trying to form some kind of metaphor, I don’t think Hansel, Gretel, or the witch ever tried ‘seduction’ on the other characters.”
