She walked in the cafeteria, eyes glazed over from hours of worsheets and lectures. ”How the hell did you guys make magic boring?” she muttered under her breath.

She found an empty table and sat on the stool closest to the window. Instead of getting in line, she pulled out a lunchbox for her purse to eat instead. She didn’t trust the school , let alone the food they served. Not to mention she made a new years resolution to be more eco friendly, and for all she knew the people who made the chicken dumped plastic in the ocean, or the pizzeria cut down rainforests. She opened her water bottle and made little droplets dance around her hands. It was pretty neat , but she wished her seal friend Nullah was around to tell her.

”How is that little Sh*t anyway?” She wondered.

Speaking of little turds, she was certain she’d go loony if she didn’t find someone to talk to. But she just transferred yesterday. Would they want to talk to her? Did they hear about the situation at the beach? What to fairytale kids even talk about? God, Would they be snooty? This was a fancy school, after all. She let out a deep sigh and let her head rest on her fist. Why did she even care if they were *ssholes? Even when her foster parents bullied her , she knew how to put them in her place. (She wasn’t exactly expelled for wearing a crop top in middle school) But even with the biggest bungholes , there were some good eggs to round out the bunch.

But that’s with normal people. That when she was just amka the ocean-crazed foster kid and they just people who happened to live nearby. But this was “Once Upon a High” and she was a special somebody with a group of special somebodies. For all she knew, the school was just a place for fancy shmancy magic elites and she was the weirdo who acted like human being.

But there was hope, a hope she doubted but hope nonetheless that there were normal people she could hang out with and pester with enormous rants flooding their earholes. People who got her , or at least was willing to accept her. And if not , well they’re gonna wish they never got that letter.

She grabbed her things and moved to a more…populated table. A-holes or not amka doesn’t give up without trying.
