And so, it had turned out that the girl was in fact messing with Elias. What else could it have been, sudden amnesia? As far as he knew, he was pretty healthy, despite not knowing anything else about the girl.

To Elias’ surprise, the stranger-- his best friend agreed to tell him more about her. What he’d gathered was that she’s a twin, with some sort of special ability which wasn’t surprising, and she had parents. Couldn’t have been more generic, though he couldn’t give away the fact that he knew nothing about her. So, he laughed. “That’s a really vague way to say it, Aoife.” he commented, hoping she’d at least elaborate. At least he’s learnt her name now.

He couldn’t let Aoife find out about his loss of memory, though. Despite being his friend, he didn’t know if he could trust her. Elias had to find more about her, yet he wanted to avoid Aoife finding out about his parents. He was doubting she was his friend at all, but there was no other explanation for what he felt. There was no way he was the one with a crush on her, convincing himself with lies that they’re friends. He wasn’t that delusional, not yet.

“What do you mean alone, though?” he turned to her. “We’re friends, right?” he asked, unsure of it himself.

“I guess it’s my turn to tell you about my parents.” he smirked. Of course, he wouldn’t tell the full truth, he’d try to be vague as well. As his friend, she would know about his parents, wouldn’t she? Unless they weren’t as close as Elias had thought they were. Though, she seemed to have known that Elias isn’t particularly close to his parents, and neither was she.

“Listen up.” he started, arms crossed. It was time he came up with the biggest lie yet. “My stupid father was a simple farmer man, but he was too poor to afford anything. He was starting to lose his crops and animals, couldn’t even pay the bills.” he spoke, rolling his eyes. “Until my mother came along, a woman of high status. Rich, but she fell in love with a peasant. You might think it was true love like in the stories, but in the end, my father ended up using her for money.” he furrowed his brows, turning away from Aoife, actually angry at his fictional father. He didn’t know if it was because he was invested in the story he made up a minute ago, or because it had a bit of truth in it. “She didn’t find out until later in the relationship, and when she did, she made me live the worst years of my life. She… Um…” he paused, pretending he doesn’t want to share any more of his traumatic fake backstory.

“I’m sorry, I…” he spoke more quiet than before, as a tear fell down his eye. “I just hate them.” he wiped the tear, facing away from her. It was embarrassing for him to cry in front of others, though he needed it to be believable. “Can we change the subject?” he asked with his cold voice, back turned towards her.
