Last Night
Aidene’s room was clean, and organized. Everything was in it’s little place, and it had a neat method. Needless to say, Aidene’s room didn’t reflect how she was feeling. She had since changed from her leather jacket and jeans into a more comfortable set of pajamas. It was dark outside, autumn setting in. She sat on her bed, replaying the events of the day. Her day with Iva, from the archery fields to the taverns to the carnival and then finally the kissing booth. Their kiss. His wish for her. Her promise to herself that whatever she did she wouldn’t hurt him. The implications of their entire interaction. She fell onto her bed, unsure of what to do other than fall asleep. Until her phone went off, curious she grabbed it from the stand beside her bed.
Someone had followed her on Instagram, which was curious enough on it’s own. She didn’t give out her instagram and it was mainly a hell ton of random sh-t and just a way she kept in touch or tabs on certain people. IvanLucius was the account’s name and it didn’t take a genius to figure out who that was. 10 posts and… Holy sh-t. Nearly 400k followers. It didn’t take long for a DM message to pop up.
So… I guess you have mononucleosis now, huh?
For a moment, she didn’t know how to respond. She was a literal idiot. Biting her lip she typed out a response, rather slowly but she wasn’t quite sure what to say. And the seen icon had already given her away. So, she started typing. *shut up * Followed by, you seem oddly excited by that prospect Aidene rolled over to her side on the bed, curious to see his response. She had teased him earlier about getting mononucleosis and now it seems the joke was on her. well… I didn’t really picture our first date at the doctor’s office. but it is what it is
He was joking, he had to be. Ivan was a harmless flirt, well harmless was debatable. But he was still flirtatious when he wanted to be. Smiling a little she quickly typed out a response before hitting send. yeah, that’s not happening. It was better this way, no one got hurt anyways. At least that’s what she told herself. If she had half of a brain she would be running in the other direction. Ivan’s account typed for a second giving her the ‘
’ emoji and: guess we’ll just have to wait it out together then
.
What does he even mean by that? Aidene thought to herself. Ivan seemed to be bolder a little bit more when they weren’t physically together. Probably because her first instinct would’ve been to burn him alive. Still, she was unwilling to give him the satisfaction of knowing she wouldn’t mind that. that is the most terrifying idea I’ve heard in a long time She texted back. But exciting all the same? Aidene didn’t respond to that, not really wanting to and even if she did she wouldn’t know how to respond. The problem was solved though, he added another message for her. You kiss like an angel btw Her face flushed a little, even though it was night and even though he wasn’t around to say anything like this his texts were enough to still make her embarrassed. It was a compliment, (she thought), of course but she wasn’t sure how genuine it was. She tapped away on her phone. huh, you kiss a lot of angels then?
It was such a stupid response, but her mind blanked for anything else to say. Hadn’t met one until today She scoffed, now he was being extra. I may be good, darling but I’m no angel She revised. Hmm… we’ll see about that. angel Aidene rolled her eyes, at this point if she was by him she would’ve smacked, punched or given him a flash of heat. Instead she had to make do with words. u are literally so annoying She was weak with words. but you love me Her eyebrows furrowed at the statement. still doesn’t change the fact ur annoying It wasn’t until she after she sent the message she realized she hadn’t addressed the love part of his message. He was going to pick up on that… Aidene tried to type another message but he already responded to her mistake.
So you love me Good to know Aidene scoffed in the dark, his self assured confidence was still there, apparent in his teasing. She wasn’t one to entertain it though. you assume the wildest things She looked at the time as his account showed typing. you know me. tall, dark, and wild
She laughed under her breath, before correcting him. She attached a picture of a cute, tiny, darkly colored bunny to her next message. Sure, bunny
Aww. I’m cuter though, right? He was, at least she thought he was. Ivan was good-looking there wasn’t a doubt about that. She wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of her saying that-- not now at least. possibly she responded, against her better judgement when she would usually type out a flat out no. *definitely, was his quick response. She retaliated with the same, ‘**possibly’ she had said before **definitely. ***possibly. ***definitely. … He was definitely not going to let this go, he was stubborn in this way. Aidene was stubborn too, though. She would go back and forth with him all night if she needed to.
I could do this all night
. She informed him, and she was willing to. I could do you all night
Aidene balked at the thought, her eyes widening as she read his message. He was teasing her, as always. She always gave a reaction, like always. Although he was not here to see it. … time for you to sleep She didn’t know how to respond and she knew he knew that as well. With you? A little soon but alright She closed her eyes for a moment, annoyance but also amusement in a way. Keep dreaming.
His response was as smooth as his last, I will. of you. Will you be less annoying in the morning? She asked him. Yes. Because I’ll get to see you again. That text elicited a smile from her, if she was being honest she looked forward to seeing Ivan again. He was the first friend she made and currently her only one, although sometimes he was annoying – she genuinely enjoyed being around him. Uhuh… what’s your first class? She knew her schedule like the back of her hand, her father made sure of it. Sh-t we’d better have the same ones. Surprised you’re not ditching to be honest.
Aidene thought about her response before offering a little. Her dad set her up with the school, schedule, etc. everything for this trip. He expected her to do what he usually did and that meant taking every opportunity given to her unless given a reason otherwise. my dad would not be happy with that. After a moment she adds, I try to keep my dad happy. Mine wouldn’t be either. Also, it’s Math Aidene nodded to herself, a lot of the time she forgot that Ivan was the children of two royals, who wouldn’t be happy if their son started skipping probably. I’ll see you in Math then. Unless you happen to ditch? Not if you’re going to be there. See you then, princess
She shook her head, before turning off her phone. She knew he would see she read it, and she did not plan on responding soon or at least for the rest of the night. But she still smiled as she laid back onto her bed and fell asleep.
Morning
The next morning Aidene pulled a set of clothes from her closet, it was a little different from her clothes yesterday but it still had her style. Mesh shirt patterned with suns and moons paired with a black leather skirt. She was aware of the dress code but still didn’t care, she probably broke 10 different rules by wearing this. Her father told her she had to attend classes and go to school, he never said she had to wear the uniform. A little way to spite him when the administration would no doubt tattletale on her. She shrugged on her backpack
Her first class was Math, same with Ivan. She had agreed last night to see him in class, their first periods matched. Surprisingly, she hoped they would have more than one shared class… He was her first friend after all. She grabbed her phone and opened it, their conversation last night on display. See you then, princess
was the last message between them. She had purposefully left him on read, unsure of how to respond to his flirtations. She wasn’t good at that. She barely knew what she was doing, out of her depth with their kiss and agreement.
She stepped out of her dorm, and walked through the school. She skipped breakfast, she wasn’t that hungry and it wasn’t like she needed food, at least not what they offered in the cafeteria. She rubbed her neck, she was getting hungry though… she would have to do something about that. She’d talk to her father. It was too soon to do anything major. It took her some time, too stubborn to ask for help before she found her way to the back of the class. The math class was cold, it’s navy walls plastered with posters on mathematics and astronomy. She paused to look at an astronomy one focused on the sun before she took in the rest of the room. Everything was clean, spotless. Clean, organized, her father would’ve liked that. Except the sharpness and the cold, she was used to the warmness and smooth organization of her own things. It was interesting, and Aidene assumed it had something to say about the teacher.
She took note of that. She wanted a chance to observe things, she would have to for what she needed to do. She felt a little sick of the things she would have to do, but it wasn’t like she had a choice. She made mental notes of her surroundings, marking where everything was. Class wouldn’t be too hard, she was pretty good at math and if it wasn’t for her father downplaying her skills she probably would’ve fit in the advanced class. She had to be good at math at least to make up for her dyslexia – which on it’s own was pain.
She saw Ivan in the very back of the classroom, which is what she would’ve chosen anyways. She wanted to see who was in the class and who would be most useful. She went up to the back bleacher where Ivan already sat, his bag taking up a seat next to him. She went to the seat and picked up his backpack and dropped it on his lap; . “I realize you’re a lot of things, but I didn’t take you to be a stalker.” She teased him although she actually did want to know how he found her instagrimm account. “Anyways,” she sat down on the chair. “Horrible morning to you.”

Macy woke up as if she never slept at all, and maybe she hadn’t. Woken up at 5 AM and had stayed in bed with her entire face in pain. Her pajamas were a rough cotton that itched against her skin, one of the few things she had brought with her from home. The bed however was soft with softer sheets, softer than anything she had slept in. Maybe I’d have slept in something like this if it wasn’t for the twins. Macy thought to herself. She let Eun have the bathroom, maybe because she didn’t feel like fighting or maybe because she was in plenty of pain to do nothing otherwise. By the time Eun had finished and sneaked out of the room (rather unsneakily) the pain had subsided.
Macy clicked on the light of the bathroom and nearly cried in horror. She had bags under her eyes and her hair was a mess. There were even leaves in there and she didn’t know where those came from. She opened her mouth and it as worse, incisors extended from her mouth, almost like a vampire. Two very sharp, large teeth that could actually be fangs instead. Her lips were bruised, lightly on the outside but the real damage was on the inside and when she stuck out her lip it was colored with yellow and purple bruises with tiny puncture marks. Some seeped blood steadily, others had already scabbed over. She looked awful
What the h-ll?? Macy thought to herself, it was Eun. It had to be, she had some power over beauty and she knew her and Dae-sol had been doing this for years. Just like they’ve been causing absolute chaos in her family. She looked at the time and figured she could get ready still. She ran a shower, did her hair and her makeup. While her face was beginning to heal, she knew it’d be in pain for a while. Using a file she filed down her teeth until they were a normal size, it was painful but she was used to it. She refused to wear the uniform, it was ugly and she didn’t want to. She already was a shadow in the twin’s light and she didn’t want to continue living in that shadow.
Macy wasn’t sure how or when but she did have a schedule, which was interesting seeing as they had faked her entire attendance process here. But she did have one and it set her with Advanced Literature as her first class. She hoisted her canvas messenger bag over her shoulder, everything she had for school was in it. Which, wasn’t very much. Some cheaps pens, pencils with broken tips and highlighters with mismatched tops. She couldn’t buy much, she was still on a limit – and it wasn’t like the twin’s mom funded her parents or her in thanks for the trouble for they gave them. She found her way to the Advanced Literature classroom
When she entered the room, it was beautiful. Chestnut colored walls and the chairs were soft and cute. The bookshelves in the back were large and filled with books. It was warm and there was a coffee pitcher in the back. She picked up a cup of coffee and sat down in a chair towards the back of the class but not quite there. She let her bag rest by her feet.

Saciente brushed the hair out of her face in the bathroom mirror before applying a coat of mascara, her hand moved expertly with the wand, knowing exactly what to do and how. She sat the mascara bottle down as before she exited the bathroom. She had been up for the past 30 minutes, preparing for school. She was nervous, of course however she was also excited. She looked forward to a new start in a new school… and maybe a chance to find out who her parents really were.
She ate her breakfast in the Castleteria, she didn’t have that much money so she was limiting her spending – she’d have to find a job. And soon. She spent some money, and scrolled through instagrimm as she ate her food, looking at what was new and trending on her page. A bunch of students at the school had an instagrimm and had posted on them. She followed a few of them as she finished up her breakfast. The sounds of the castleteria flooded through her ears, creating a whole variety of colors within her mind’s eye. It was almost overwhelming but sh was able to deal with it. And as she focused on other things, the awareness of color began to fade.
Her first class: Advanced Literature. She placed a smile on her face as she walked around the school, asking for directions every now and again before finally reaching the Advanced Literature classroom. She entered in the class and was instantly in love with the vibes of the classroom. She wasn’t a major reading fan but she decided she would probably not hate this class. Her experiences with school in the past had been less then desirable but if every class was going to be like this one she’d like them all. She grabbed a cup of coffee before sitting at a desk. Within her hands the coffee turned into a hot chocolate drink and when she drank from it – it was bitter and spicy. But she loved it, much better then coffee. She recalled her adoptive parents calling it xocolatl.
It took her a moment before she realized she had sat down next to someone. Class hadn’t started yet and she figured it was better to introduce herself rather than not to. She turned to the person beside her before smiley brightly, she wanted to make a good impression after all, before speaking in an upbeat tone. “Hi, my name’s Saci – short for Saciente – what’s yours?” Her smile was perfect, although a little wide. She wondered if the person would find her annoying, maybe she shouldn’t have been so chirpy about things.

Beckett had not changed from yesterday and he was still p-ssed off about the lack of coffee they offered in the castleteria. Luckily he had gone with A’nyce to pick up some coffee beans so perhaps everything would be alright. And that thing she had done to him gave him the bejeezies but he doubted anything bad would happen. She wasn’t evil – was she? He shook his head as the coffee machine began to brew his coffee, the scent of coffee filling the kitchen and spreading. Hopefully his roommate liked coffee – not that he really had a choice. Beckett was a coffee addict so he’d have to deal with it anyways. He didn’t know much about his roommate, on the form he was pretty sure the name was… Chase? Like the bank. Hopefully he did have money, Beckett was broke – being a wardrobe didn’t make someone rich.
Beckett was dressed in the ugly suit – he would alter it but he couldn’t be picky right now. Maybe if he behaved these first few weeks his mother wouldn’t harrass him on the phone every weekend. He sighed as he picke dup his backpack and coffee sipping the pure black coffee. Just like how I feel this morning. Beckett though glumly as rubbed his eyes, the contacts within making them itch every now and again. If he didn’t wear them though he’d be blinder than a bat. Literally, he was nearly legally blind.
Beckett walked out of the dorm room, trying not to be too loud for his dormmate. He had explored OUH last night and knew exactly where his classes were. Well… at least the first two. He reached the classroom and the desks seemed to be long table-rows which grey walls. This place is bleak as h-ll. He sat down at the table and brough a pencil case and notebook out from the messenger back around his shoulder before kicking the said bag under the table. Beside him was a dark skinned girl, she had light white hair and gray eyes. “If you tell me you don’t like coffee I’m going to have to sit somewhere else.” He half-joked with the girl next to him. Half-joking as in he might actually do it. He held out his hand, “I’m Beckett.”
