Sora looked down as the girl talked they were not really anticipating eating lunch with anyone. “No its fine lets just call it even.” They mumbled as she talked about how she should have been the one apologizing. “Um ok get food then.” they mumbled as she got up and walked away and Sora tried to stay calm as they thought about having to eat lunch with this girl.
@Ouijaloveletters
Aithne heard Sora’s mutter, nodding. “Ok, we’re even.” She said before getting up. She soon returned, sitting back down with her food. She began to eat, wondering if she should continue the conversation. After a minute, she spoke again. “My name’s Aithne O’Brien. What’s yours?” She smiled, giving a shy wave. She picked up a slice of her pizza, taking a bite and letting out a hum of satisfaction.

“Bubblehead?” Brooks asked confused. “What does that even mean?” They replied as the let the word roll around in their mouth. Did it mean dumb, or something more like lost in thought. They wondered not supper upset with Elliot for the first time since their meeting. “You have a sister?” Brooks was calming down he wondered if he was such a happy guy because he knew someone always cared about him.
Something about this guy Brooks just couldnt resist his smile. He seemed so genuinely happy it was so unusual for Brooks to see someone who wasnt faking their happiness at all. Brooks followed him in line they were so drawn into him because they couldnt seem to figure him out. Brooks cracked a itty bitty half smile as they moved up in line. They were drawn back to reality when Elliot asked them a question about their name. “Its Brooks. Spelt B-R-O-O-K-S.” They replied hoping that was what Elliot had been asking since they didnt really understand their question but wasnt going to ask for clarification. “I’ll take the same as you that’s fine. I’m relatively easy.” They said softly as the stuffed their hands in their pockets. That stupid smile was still on Elliot’s face and Brooks couldn’t help letting a little half smile smirk slip again. He seemed really nice maybe people here were different. Between him and Colm and Allica they all were so nice and not at all what Brooks was used to.
“Why? Are you an expert?” Grégorie challenged. “Well, since I can’t stop winking, I should be, no?” Garçon asked smoothly, cocking his head to the left and turning Grégorie’s words back onto him. Perhaps he truly was an expert, though he didn’t admit this out loud, he smiled to himself, a small bit of pride swelling in his chest. Despite the grin that crept onto his chiseled face, he knew Grégorie was only playing again-with every time he yanked Garçon’s heart up and down, Garçon wondered who was the real playboy here. He would excite him with some flirtatious remark, then reveal it to be faux, by some subtle expression on that gorgeous face. Some people would consider it torture. But Garçon loved it. Part because of who was holding the string, part because it was exciting. Novel, he was always the one in control, knowing what to expect. It was fun-he didn’t feel like he’d lost grasp of the reins, which was probably what kept him sane in all of this.
Garçon loved to make people laugh, he yearned for others to find him funny, for them to crack a smile at his jokes, or throw their head back, sides aching with pain from all the laughter. Grégorie only offered him a small laugh, but it was as rewarding as if he’d fallen to the ground, clutching his sides, with happy tears in the corners of his eyes. The sound of his laugh made Garçon’s heart swell with pride, and his stomach a home to a stampede of butterflies. And the hopeful feeling that maybe he could get a few more laughs or affectionate smiles in the future. A small formed was on his lips as he stared at Grégorie. “Really? Have you always wanted to?” The smile was soured with light smugness as he gave a little nod. “I can personally make sure that you will soon find yourself in such a cage if you don’t stop leaning towards me. I can even push you in the water.” He gave a jokingly awkward wink, releasing a snort from Garçon’s nostrils.
He leaned in slightly closer, just to upset Grégorie further, his smirk growing even more crooked. “Really? You know a guy?” He joked in a low voice, tone genuine, but no so genuine as to mask the fact he was only kidding. “At this point, I’ll do anything to get your hands on me,” He continued smoothly, lowkey not even joking. He snickered again at the wink, “Hm. If you took a look in a mirror, you’d realize you were incorrect when you said winking was un-sexy.” He spoke as if he were speaking to himself, though it was a compliment to Grégorie, whose purposefully awful wink did not change the fact that he was ridiculously good-looking.
“By asking that question, you prove that you are neither humble nor handsome,” Grégorie said, an interesting smile on his face. “What does my handsomeness have to do with my confidence?” He asked poutily, glowering internally that Grégorie had basically told him he was ugly. Though he was not too hurt, as he secretly thought there was no way that anyone could think he was ugly. Not even Grégorie. Why wouldn’t he admit it? Was his charming smile not enough? Was it suspicious? Or was it a reminder of someone else’s from the past? His subtle rejections of Garçon’s advances only intrigued him more-he wanted to find out what Grégorie’s deal was, and he wanted him to admit he was handsome (as a bonus).
He showed his amusement with a quiet laugh, and a beautiful smile-a sincere one, not one that dripped with sarcasm or was dry as a bone. It looked different from every expression before, it looked genuinely happy. It was minuscule, yet meaningful to Garçon, a checkpoint in his mission to unearthing who Grégorie really was, what he liked, and the most important moments in his life. His smile was just as genuine, but a bit less beautiful, he would argue. The moment soon passed, but Garçon wanted to think it was something he would remember the feeling of for a long time. “Hallelujah. Finally. Please, make sure to keep them closed forever?” He joked lightly, and raised his hands towards the high ceilings of the Castleteria. Garçon had to pinch the end of his tongue to hold back another smug statement (“Forever? Aren’t you interested in what else this mouth can do?” ) The one and only thing holding him back was the zipping motion of his lips and the lingering mental promise not to make him uncomfortable. It seemed normal Garçon was coming on too strong. Instead, he puckered his lips like a duck and wiggled his chin from side to side, making muffled noises, like he was taking offense and trying to argue with Grégorie, but couldn’t because his lips were zipped.
Garçon did not always understand. But he always respected, and he had a genuinely sympathetic look on his face as he listened to Grégorie. Grégorie was so different from him, seeming to dislike so many things that made his life as fun as it was. He didn’t like interacting with others, while Garçon took every chance he got to locate the most social, popular, and talkative group of people he could find and join in. His friends were his rock (and his family), and if he had to go more than an hour without talking to at least someone, his heart felt heavy. What was it like to feel the opposite? Happy in being isolated from all, satisfied with having no (did he have no) friends. Straying from the spotlight, finding comfort in doing things alone. Not afraid of being alone. Garçon didn’t admit or even know this but maybe that’s what made Grégorie so interesting and peculiar to him.
His seriousness was adorable, innocent to Garçon, he felt like a child creating a plot to heist a cookie from a jar. “Okay!” Even the excitement he said this with was cute, and Garçon decided to fully immerse himself in his role, smiling (just enough to look involved and interested, not enough to look like he was poking fun), he leaned closer out of habit, as if they were going to whisper their plot together so no one else could hear. “Can you see her?” He scanned the Castleteria, looking for any splotch of annoying pink… Then shook his head. As he listened to his companion continue to speak, a fun thought crossed his mind. In the movies, agents always had their own code names. That should apply to their mission too, right? He would mention it after Grégorie was done, though he was so excited he could hardly wait. “Aye aye, captain,” Garçon gave a small salute. “Don’t worry, I got your back.” He assured him, mulling over a good idea of a password. In the meantime, he suggested, “You’re right. How about ‘Flamingo’?” He suggested, due to the pink hair-though he wasn’t sure of the shade the girl actually had. “We’ll need code names for each other, too. If she does catch us, she won’t know our real ones.” He added an extra reason just in case Grégorie thought it was stupid. “…What about PB&J?” He nudged Grégorie playfully, “Since we go so well together, ami.” Yeah, it was cheesy, but who didn’t like PB&J?! ethie, that is who, gross
He swiveled his head to look in the same direction as Grégorie. Ahead lay two options. A pathway by the (surprisingly empty) booth. There, they could camouflage with their peers, weaving through them until they got to a hallway. It was highly unlikely they’d be noticed, though he was sure the girl still had her eye on that booth. Meanwhile, they could skip the whole ‘brushing shoulders with other people’ thing and head for that vacant corridor. The only problem with that was it made them an easy target, especially with the surprisingly stylish green pants Grégorie had on. He turned back to Grégorie solemnly. "We should walk by the booths. I know, I know, it’s risky- He held up a finger as if to stop Grégorie from protesting until he had finished speaking. “But I think she’ll notice us even more if we’re standing alone over there. We can blend in with the other students. And surely the teachers will let us through.” He paused, “And, Grégorie. If she sees us. Run.”

Rory could tell something was wrong and wished that she would just tell him. She had never acted this cryptic with him before and honestly that made him worry even more. He knew this had to be something big but he couldn’t fathom what would be bad enough that she would be scared or embarrassed to tell him. She was distancing herself more than she ever had from him. Mom and dad sure but they were always there for each other, thick as thieves. What had changed now that was making her pull away from him? Rory tried to not take it personally that she seemed to be pushing him away but was not exactly easy for him. He heard her and looked at her still confused as to what had gone wrong. “Hey are you crying Lilli?” He asked almost taking her out of the lunch room and back to his room right that second. “Do you want to leave skip out some? Take time away from everyone?” He asked as he give her a little hug knowing that what had happened had clearly really upset her even though he didnt completely understand why she was so upset.

“Hey so when you inhabit a bottle, do you actually shrink so you’re able to fit into the bottle is it something else you do to live in the bottle?” I asked “You know what, I think meeting you just makes me awful curious more than wishful so I don’t mind if somebody steals you as long as we get to be friends … I’ll be the annoying friend who keeps pestering you with questions you might not want to asnwer but you don’t need to call yourself my friend.” I proposed. “I’d give you to somebody I think is smart or would know what to do with you without wreaking havoc, but you’re the first person here I met … I had a conversation with.”
Alena smirked softly, “It’s, uh, it’s a little bigger than it looks, on the inside.” Alena shook her head, she could never understand how a seemingly intelligent species could be this ignorant. “As I told you before, I can’t be anyone’s friend/best friend/girlfriend/wife whatever, as long as I’m bound to the lamp or bottle and in the possession of a master, I’m bound to serve them, meaning I’ll most likely never see you again, so us being friends or not is of no point.” Genesis then said Alena was the first person she met before correcting herself to say conversation. Alena sighed, “I’m sorry about what I said, Mistress. It just never works out, with my immortality and being moved around or stolen left and right, I never see the people I once called friends again.”

Pearl seemed to share Bay’s energy, giggling and speaking in an excited voice, cheering her newfound friend on. “We are, right? Like the cutest couple on the land and sea!!” Bay agreed, not trying to sound egotistical, but doing so anyways. She decided to talk about Pearl a bit, since she was really curious about what else they had in common. “Pearlie, do you have a ‘Cam’? Of course, no one could be exactly like him or as amazing, but maybe a bit! A girl Cam? Blonde Cam? Cam whose name isn’t Cam?” It was a pretty odd way of asking Pearl if she was dating anyone. She looked towards the ground, “Well…I’ve really been short on money…” Bay’s eyes widened-she loved when people told her secrets, it meant they trusted her. Too bad she couldn’t keep them. “Aww, Pealie!! I can give you money! My mom gives me lots of it.” She winced slightly after the mention of her mother. “How much money are you short on? Did you spend it all on food?” She nodded as well, “I can’t picture anything I couldn’t tell Cam except this.” She admitted pleadingly. Pearl only nodded, which made Bay see her as even more wise for some reason.

Dang, this was awkward. She’d seen worse, but there wasn’t much chemistry between these two, mostly due to Ariadne. This guy seemed like the fun and bubbly type that could get on with anyone. Maybe he was already in a relationship, even. He smiled at Ariadne, complimenting her on her name, too. But she didn’t flush or seem excited about this, dryly and awkwardly thanking him. “I am, also. Along with my brother.” “I’m new, are you?” She kinda knew that already since she’d never seen them around. “This is my second year here.” She replied sweetly, with an emphasis on the second to prove how they had something in common, while she had nothing in common with either of them. Her eyes flicked to Ariadne’s desperate face, a face that begged, help make this less awkward on all of us!! She nodded lightly. “What do you guys think of the school so far, then? And why did you decide to go? It’s so exciting to see all these new faces. That’s why I called you over here,” She said the last part to Theorous, she wasn’t about to throw Ari and her “feelings” under the bus.
“It’s better to look like that than look like a baby and be of your height” Wei Ming jokingly stook out his tongue. “Of course the tall god is making fun of my height.” he said, rolling his eye semi playfully. “Of course.” Wei just giggled at his resistance.
“And how does everything stays in place when you simply desire to manipulate people and use them for your dirty deeds? You’re almost like an open book Wei Ming, I can read you, not clearly but I still can.” Does he not listen? I don’t need people doing my ‘dirty’ deeds. Wei unclenched his set jaw. “Really? What’s inside me then? Explain me the best you can.” he asked, half testing. “No” Wei Ming brushed that off, pretending he didn’t hear it.
Wei Ming straighten, touching his pockets, pulling out a paper. “Hmmm…” Wei Ming studied. He read a story about how the darkness and how comforting it is,and more about a young man who was powerful enough to bring defeat and conquer the light fairies kingdom and still had his family with him. A young man who still had a girl with him and didn’t die by the hands of her people and him. “Are you a prince? Mr fairy? Am I correct?” Wei pried. He ranted about the darkness, “Him you say?” Wei squeezed his jaw tight. “Hmm? What do you mean him?” he asked, pretending he hadn’t mentioned anyone at all.
"Why? Because it’s me, darling. he winked. “Just kidding, don’t feel obligated to.” he said, sounding to innocent for this conversation.
“Really? Stick out your hand let me give it to you.” Wei Ming lips made a thin line. “Ha. I see what you did there.” he had it with these jokes.
“For now.” Wei’s thigh throbbed, and he started feeling slightly thirsty. “I appreciate that, then.”

“Oh, wow. Why don’t you float away, the? Or do you wear special shoes?” Tatum was intrigued by Kiku’s interest in this. She didn’t really have very many people to tell, so she was excited. [color= #231379]“Well, mostly shoe’s, and a little practice.” she asked Kiku if she wanted to see a trick, looking around as so no one -especially Tate- would see her. “Sure!” A big giant grin crossed Tatum’s face. Alexia kept her eyes on random people, not realizing the person almost dropping there tray. Alexia looked over, as they were taking forever, and briefly watched him almost drop his tray. “Um yeah bi guess I can?”
Alexia waited for them. “Hey, wanna people watch with me? I need new ideas about these people.” she asked. She barely waited two seconds before adding. "Take a seat anywhere. I’m Alexia. Alex looked up at him, smiling once she saw his face. “Sorry about almost making you drop your tray.” she offered.

Kiku nodded when Tatum asked about the shrine. “Yep. You’re right. Its really pretty there.” They said, smiling.Tatum explained her shoes, and Kiki nodded. Made sense. They stood up, following her to the tree, watching with rapt attention as she took her shoes off and rose into the air. Kiku watched anxiously as she grabbed the branches, praying their new friend wouldn’t float away. “Can you get down?!” Kiku yelled up. “I can come get you if you need!” That would mean they’d have to reveal their…uh, talent, but they’d do it anyway. It was only fair.

One finger remained under her chin, light pressure tilting her head upwards so her eyes could meet Alec’s. Honestly, she didn’t need his finger to do that, though she liked the feeling. “Say another thing for me in Spanish, please?” He requested. Camilla pressed her lips together, as if she was thinking really hard about what to say to him, which she was. “Seguro. Soy Camilla. Eres muy guapo.” “Sure. I’m Camilla. You’re very handsome.” yes i used google translate sorry if it’s a tad off She grinned at him, eyebrows raised to see what he thought. He smiled, “Really? Which countries would you like to visit, Kitty?” His hands again found their way into his hair as she answered just as quickly, “Oh, everywhere!! England, Japan, America, Spain, Australia…” She counted them on her fingers. “If I name them all, we’ll be here all day. But I just want to visit them all! They’re all so cool!! I’ve only ever been in France.”
Alec chuckled as she tucked her arms into each other poutily. “As a sign of my victory, you have to give me a kiss, m’lady.” He did a little bow, and she couldn’t help but crack a smile, letting out a tiny giggle as she looked at him out of the corner of her eye. “So, my kiss?” He leaned close to her, and she turned her face towards him. He was so close, the tips of their noses were almost touching, and she wore an actual smile now, blushing as his hand rested on her thigh. “Alright, alright,” she said, her smile turning mischievous as she thought of an idea. She leaned close to him, then kissed the tip of his nose. “There. Your kiss, good sir.” She joked, knowing very well he wanted a kiss on the lips.
“I hope so.” He said, popping a pepperoni in his mouth. She frowned, that was the probably the only thing they’d done together that Eundr and him hadn’t, eat freaking pepperoni pizza. “I can’t wait to go home and hug her.” Alec said thoughtfully. Camilla was nearing her breaking point. She stared at him for a second with pleading eyes, then grabbed him and gave him the tightest hug she could. After releasing him, she demanded, “Is she a better hugger than that?!” “Is something wrong, beautiful?” His lips were inches from hers, making her blush despite her scowl. “Oh, were you and Eundr not able to figure it out?” She asked, as if she had just noticed he was there. “Oh, you wouldn’t,” He chuckled, which made Camilla feel dumb and immature. Of course she wouldn’t, she didn’t know anything! The word friend p-ssed her off, even though she knew exactly how he thought of her now. “Well, maybe that friend doesn’t want to hear it from her friend.” She pouted. “How did you know?” “Handsome guys usually fancy pretty girls,” Camilla responded.
Even though his pained expression was fake, it still pulled at Camilla’s heartstrings. He planted a kiss on her forehead, still looking at her with pleading black eyes. “Make me feel better, por favor?” She looked a bit more excited when he spoke Spanish, and her heart rose in her chest. She rolled her eyes, big, goofy smile on her face. “Fine, fine, I’ll marry you, silly,” Her voice was just as dreamy and goofy as she wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned in for a kiss. Would he marry her for real? Maybe. She half believed it, half thought it was all just silly, flirty talk. It made her really happy, though.
“What’s your favorite question?” Camilla loved questions, especially asking them. But it had never crossed her mind to ask someone what their favorite question was, or to pick her own. She was usually quick with answers, but she had to think on this one. “Hmm…maybe what’s your favorite color?” She finally answered, though she sounded slightly unsure because she didn’t want to pick only one. Something clinked to the ground, a pretty bracelet, and she watched as Alec scooped it up. Unfortunately, he soon met the same fate as his bracelet, and he groaned as he fell to the tile. Her eyes popped open as he whistled, and unaware of the position he was in, she fell right on top of him, trying not to knee him or hit him anywhere painful. His cheeks were pink-surprising. “Oh my gosh are you okay?! Why do you keep getting hurt?! Is it because of me? Your cheeks are even kinda red from the fall!”

She looked pretty grumpy, now that Kaden was taking a closer look. He wondered if something awful had happened to make her upset-hopefully he could cheer her up a bit. “Thanks, don’t touch it.” Her voice sounded just as angry as she looked, but Kaden only gave her a cheerful smile, “Of course I won’t!” He promised. He never touched other people’s hair without permission, as that usually got him in trouble. Though he was okay when people touched his hair. “Ilona…I’m Ilona.” She took a bite of her hamburger, which smelled really good. It had been too long since Kaden had had one. Ilona. The name was surprisingly fitting, it reminded Kaden of the word ‘alone’, and here she was, alone at her table. Well, not anymore. “Cool name!” He smiled. “Is anything wrong? I noticed you look a bit down. Did someone touch your hair earlier?”

“I, um, accidentally drew on the table.” Asa mumbled, and Shelldon quickly scooted over to see. He squinted at the drawings, “Ooh, cute. What did you draw? The tables look a lot less boring with your doodles.” Shelldon said. He wouldn’t draw on the tables, that was probably breaking the rules. But he wasn’t going to stop Asa either, those drawings looked sick. Rylan, further away, was trying to subtly get a good look at the doodles. From what he could see, they were really cool. He felt a bit insecure looking at them, Asa was so talented, while he couldn’t even do anything. Even though he wanted to, if he tried, his drawings would probably be wobbly squibbles that didn’t resemble anything except a mess. He glowered, now in a bit of a dark mood. “Hey, Rylan, you okay?” Asa asked sweetly, just in time. Shelldon shot Rylan a look, what was he so upset about? “I’m fine,” Rylan stared sourly at his plate, pushing his food around with a utensil, obviously being a grump, and obviously not fine. Shelldon shook his head, rolling his eyes, he hoped the Advanced Math teacher wasn’t like that. “D-mn. Sorry you had to deal with that. Maybe you can switch,” Shelldon said, sounding dry even though he was trying to be sympathetic. “Hey, what are you doing? Leave it, it’s cute,” Shelldon protested, lightly grasping Asa’s arm as he tried to rub away the pen. “You might stain your uniform…” Rylan watched, looking kinda sad to see them go.

Finally, it was lunchtime. Lorelai took a moment to fix up her hair and makeup in the bathroom (not that it needed fixing, it was perfect) before heading outside. She was supposed to find César at lunchtime, but she hadn’t taken any photos for her Instagrimm that day, and the lighting outside looked gorgeous. Soon, she found herself half-buried in a bush of flowers so shimmery and golden they might’ve been made of the real thing. Petals brushed against her soft cheeks, stems tangled in her black hair as she stretched out her phone in attempts to get the perfect shot, pursing her lips, reaching her hand to her face, the works. Unfortunately, as she tried to change angles, the phone slipped through her fingers, and a crack could be heard as it landed in a bundle of leaves and sticks she had kicked aside. She cursed-a bit loudly, as she bent down to scoop it up. Luckily, it wasn’t cracked, though her attempted selfie was just a blur on the screen. Screw this, she could find someone else to take it for her. “Who goes there? Show thyself?” Someone calling from further away grabbed her attention. Hopefully this person would be capable of getting her good side. Pulling up her thigh-highs, Lorelai ventured in their direction, and was very pleased at her findings. A guy, tall and super muscular stood shirtless, holding a bow and arrow. She pursed her lips-he was pretty cute, with dark, wavy hair, and dark eyes. “Lorelai.” She stated to his chest, to answer his question. Was she going to start every interaction with her first name now?

“Hey, are you crying, Lilli?” Hot tears leaked from her eyes. They stung. Everything hurt, especially her pride. What was she doing, crying in front of everyone?! But then again, did it even matter at this point? Everyone in the whole Castleteria knew she’d done something much stupider than crying. And the nickname he called her…she hated it. She didn’t hate Rory, but it made her narrow her eyes and bit her tongue, looking away bitterly. It didn’t matter that everyone called her Lilli. It only mattered that he (the ex) called her it, therefore ruining it and bringing back memories of his lips on hers every time. After a few seconds, she was able to look at him again. His worried face looked blurry. She didn’t even answer-yes, she was crying. “Do you want to leave, skip out some? Take time away from everyone?” He gave her a little hug, which did help, and she nodded miserably. All these voices were making her headache worse. She just wanted to get away from everyone before someone called her out.

Destrian immediately lowered his weapon in surprise and took a knee, “Forgive me, fair maiden, I had not known twas you who disturbed me.” He stood up and shot the arrow into the target, bullseye. Then he set his weapon down and turned toward the maiden who introduced herself as Lorelai, “Well met, Lady Lorelai, I am Sir Destrian, Knight of the Round Table,” He bowed for a moment, “at your service.” He then looked around, upon not finding any animal Destrian looked back at the fair maiden, “Where art thou steed, Lady Lorelai? Art thou lost?”

a full intro post describing royal + november arriving at the school will be written when november is finished.
He figured he should take the lunch period to look around the school a bit-any interesting hiding spots, any sparkling, lost items? Royal decided to check out an area not too far from the school, what appeared to be a bundle of bright green trees. He couldn’t see anyone around there, though to be fair, the woods were so dense he couldn’t really see anything. He was dressed in the school’s uniform, which did fit his taste…after he added some accessories. A sapphire and gold pin shaped like a bee was pinned to the soft, white fabric, sapphires and gold adorning his ears and fingers. He would’ve preferred sapphire blue slippers as well, but according to the rules his parents insisted he follow, students could only wear black. In his hand, he carried a large silver lunch tin. The servants in the castle who still favored him had put together an assortment of food for Royal and November, the tin was jam-packed with so many goodies, Royal was absolutely sure he wouldn’t be able to finish them all in one sitting.
The trees seemed to be getting wider and taller as he continued on. Birds chirped, and animals scurried up, down, and in circles. But as he passed a big tree with lots of branches (that looked like it would make an excellent climbing tree), he heard voices. They were quiet, but not quiet enough to be considered a whisper, and definitely loud enough for Royal to hear. He poked his head around the tree, a smile on his face, expecting to see two new friends. He did see them-the two new friends, but they weren’t in the position he was expecting. One individual stood on the ground. They had dark eyes, pale skin, and cropped, sandy hair. They were staring upwards towards another person. This person was a girl (a really stunning one at that). She shared the same hair color as the person on the ground, though she had much wider blue eyes. Royal found himself staring at her face for a moment too long, then did his best to snap out of it, “Are you two okay?
