Favourite Writing Techniques

A lot of authors have writing techniques which they use quite a lot because they like them! For example Charles Dickens used to like writing things as though they are a list.

My personal favourites include: pathetic fallacy, extended metaphors and juxtaposition.

So what about you guys? Let’s discusa our favourite writing techniques and why we like using them.

I like using similes and oxymorons because it makes me think more creatively.

Does writing way too long sentences count as a writing technique? :eyes::eyes::eyes:
And repeating something a few times throughout a text? :eyes::eyes::eyes:

Long sentences are a technique. You use it to control the breathing of the reader. Often short sentences are used to build suspense because your breaths would be shorter.

Yup repetition is also a writing technique
