Felix & Miko’s Adventure RP

Miko Vadel

“They wrote that we are talented.” Miko matched Felix’s pride with a smug smile, pointing playfully towards the letter. “They know what they’re talking about. I like it,” he said. He rested his hands on his hips as Felix read the letter, waiting for him to tell him more. “So?”

He took a step back as Felix picked up something from the ground, brows arched in simple surprise seeing the rock on his hand. He laughed at his reasoning, “Good thinking, good thinking,” he said. He turned around to their direction, adjusting his bag. Taking the lead (something he probably shouldn’t), he gestured to Felix with excitement hinted in his wide grin. “Let’s go, now, we don’t have all time, yeah?”

The pair discussed the letter while they headed downhill toward the path. As they reached the trees, both men unsheathed their swords and began striking the first vine in front of them. Thick with vines, branches, and overgrown foliage made it hard to follow the remains of a dirt path. Yet, they kept hacking away with their swords, attempting to clear the way. Fortunately for Felix, he was careful enough for his hands not to be ripped to shreds, nor was he tripped by any roots underfoot. Miko, however, was not so lucky. He stumbled on a rather large tree root not far into the forest. He found his footing but not before finding his bare forearms found a rather large prickle.

After about 30 minutes, the vines and branches thinned and it was easier to push their way through. The path turned left ahead, and when they reached the corner, Felix noticed something he hadn’t seen until he was about to turn. Not something, but someone, sitting on a fallen tree trunk on the other side of the path’s corner.
A man whose dark skin blended into the shadows of the trees, leaving it hard to see him there. He had mid-length dreads that were well-kept for someone sitting in the forest. He wore leather, head to toe, and flashed the boys a smile. “Hello, fair travellers.”

The path was not easy to traverse. Overgrown with leaves, vines, and other green plants that Felix could not identify. But they made it through the thicket - well-stocked, each with a trusty sword. Felix emerged from the plant battle unscathed. Fortune favored him - though Felix attributed his successful paving of the path to his skill and courage rather than good fortune. Miko was not so lucky. He stumbled over the trunk lying on the ground, wounding his forearms.

“Are you okay, Miko? You didn’t break anything?” Felix concernedly stopped beside him, helping him to his feet. “If you want, we can stop and see if you have any major injuries,” he offered. Though he personally didn’t think such a fall would be the provoker of significant damage to his friend’s health. Such a spry man like Miko shouldn’t care about a few scratches. He was no longer a child.

They moved on along a more open route. As the travelers turned left, Felix noticed someone sitting on a fallen tree log. The man of the forest was watching them. Perhaps he had observed them before. He smiled at them, but Felix still did not trust him. There was no one around though, they needed to get some information from any available sources. “Hello, vagabond,” Felix took on an enigmatic tone of voice. “My partner and I are looking for shelter. Is there a village nearby that we could go to?” he asked. He did not want to reveal his true destination or give any more specific details. The man did not appear to be a participant in the war, but he could be an ally of one of the clans - perhaps the one responsible for kidnapping the prince. It was better not to take any chances and to keep his mouth shut.

The man didn’t seem bothered by the man’s, Felix’s, wariness of him. In fact, he admired that about him. One can never be too cautious in places they do not know. The man looked from Felix to Miko and back again, giving them a reassuring smile and speaking with a rough voice but soothing tone, “Yes, I know of the location of what you both seek."
