if they are dry in the buttom cut a bit of it, els it cant reach water because the air way closed when it dry
maybe just do it anyway

Cut the bottoms, put some sugar in their water, find a empty glass container like a tomato can or sum

Just helps them last longer. Theoretically you also want to keep cutting the ends to slow their dying proccess but it might be too much of a hassle
