Rae turned away from the window and gave everyone a small smile.
“Sure,” she replied to Blake, and proceeded to give them her cell number. “Sorry I didn’t talk much. Just… thinking about stuff, you know?”
Rae turned away from the window and gave everyone a small smile.
“Sure,” she replied to Blake, and proceeded to give them her cell number. “Sorry I didn’t talk much. Just… thinking about stuff, you know?”
She waved goodbye to them before sitting down on the floor, somehow feeling exhausted.
I walked outside, getting in the car. My dad asked, “So, Blake. Are you excited to see the new house?” I smiled at him, nodding. “Yeah, I’m excited. I can’t wait to see my room. How far is the house from here? I met some nice people and I want them to visit.” “It’s about ten minutes away. I’m glad you met some nice people.” My mom said. We made it to the house, and I walked up the stairs to my bedroom.

After the whole exchanging numbers event, Oliver waved goodbye to Blake. Even knowing that they’d see each other again soon, it still sucked to see her go. The whole interaction was so short and Angel wasn’t even back yet. Still, things happened, at least Oliver had her number now.
Just for fun, he pulled up messages to shoot a few emojis her direction “

”, then deciding that the butterflies were enough of an indicator. Sure, there were a ton of animals out there, but butterflies had to be by far, the coolest creature in existence with how majestic they all looked.
“Right then, just us left,” he said, turning back to Milo, Rowan, and Rae, “and we all know about the zombies now. How about we venture out there to the catacombs? The least amount of security is right when they attack, the local enforcement is probably comforting shocked residents. You just gotta be careful down there.”
“Not surprised that there’s catacombs here,” Rae would say. “If there’s supernatural entities and the undead here, then that’s the most normal thing around.”
Oliver Madigan ![]()
“Lovely then that you agree,” he beamed, “So is that a yes? Catacombs? If we stick together, we should be fine.” Perhaps the others were hesitant, but it was something to do. Waiting on Angel didn’t seem prominent anymore and Oliver didn’t wat to make the impression that the Mondragon’s were less introductory than they seemed.
But considering how quickly Rae already seemed on board, things were promising. She wasn’t too phased about earlier and then quickly accepted the supernatural. A far better adjustment than the other transfer students in the past, Oliver could definitely appreciate her adaptability.
Not to mention the fact that she essentially saved his life, though haven’t quite demanded something in return. Something that Oliver could keep quiet about for now while procrastinating how to repay that over the summer.
“There are plenty of other supernatural entities as well, you all just got lucky with the undead. At least some of the creatures are far more friendly. Zombies may even be on the extreme of the spectrum.”

“Vampires running around in broad daylight”. “That seems a little bit… I don’t know, counter-intuitive, doesn’t it?” Jimena noted. “I mean, wouldn’t they burn up? Unless they’re wearing sunblock or something?” Jimena added.
Angelica chuckled. “Sis you’ve watched farrr too many movies. Either that or the type of vampires we have running around Gravity Falls are abnormal. As long as their wearing a coat most of the time their body won’t burn. Only if they don’t have the sun shielding them for a certain amount of time. Even then within that time they could easily take anyone out.” Angelica stated.
“But I can see your point on the burning situation.” Angel added with a nod.
After Angel warned her sister Jimena burst into laughter. “Sis, I don’t ‘have Bill’.” Jimena explained, “If anything, he ‘has’ me. And he’s not gonna protect me unless I’m on the brink of death.” She turned to their Abuela.
“Luckily, though, Mom taught me how to shoot. You wouldn’t happen to have a gun here, would you?” Abuela’s wife got up and opened a locked metal safe with a small handgun inside, handing it to Jimena. “ Gracias .” Jimena thanked her, and she nodded understandingly. “ Sé lo que se siente estar completamente perdido todo el tiempo. Apunta a los testículos. ” She explained before going back to the corner where she’d been quitely sitting, reading the newspaper.
Angelica sighed watching the ordeal. A gun wasn’t going to help against mythological creatures. Three outcomes could happen, A temporary wound but the creature could easily fight through the pain considering a monster’s tolerance is higher than a human, The bullet only creates a hole and doesn’t affect them at all orrr the bullet bounces back and probably strikes one of them.
Jimena’s brow furrowed. “Or maybe someone else has a journal? There’s more than one, isn’t there?” She suggested. “Of course. Here’s the thing though- I have all three journals. Our Grandfather created them and I fount them last year to continue his research.” Angelica reassured her sister.
“So that rules out any possibility of someone having a journal, Something…Different did that.” Angelica stared out the window still seeing the streets being cleaned from the translucent zombie goo.
“She’s right, you know.” Jimena said, loading her gun. “I can’t let you go out there alone, with nothing but a book to defend yourself. It’d be a huge bummer to have your death on my consience all summer.” She joked, opening the saferoom doors. She looked back at her sister. “You ready to go, Fearless Leader?”
“Where you see a book, I see a gateway. Open your mind. Maybe bill hasn’t told you anything about me yet.” Angelica winked as their grandmothers exited with them. The safety doors locked back as they walked down the hall Angelica noticed all the people there.
Angel immediately noticed Oliver he’s been here just as long as she has a usual attend of the shack. The girl with brown hair was still idly standing by probably unsure of what to do and two new kids came into the shack also looking for shelter. “I want you to meet someone.” Angel stated to her sister as they approached everyone.
“This is Oliver! The girl with the brown hair is new and so are the other two.” Angelica stated. “Oh and! Welcom-” “TOO THE MYSTERY SHACK, LEAVE YOUR DIMES, QUARTERS, DOLLARS AND BARS OF GOLD BY THE REGISTER FOR THE ATTRACTIONS OF WONDER!” Maria stepped in with her typical getup and staff ultimately cutting Angel off and happily greeting the kids.
“If you have parents, Bring them in! If not! I’ll let everyone see the best attraction yet! For only the small small fee of ten dollars.” Maria stated confidently. Angelica rolled her eyes and stepped in.
“Abuela they aren’t here to see the attractions their looking for shelter.” Angelica reminded her. “You must be out of your mind if you think those hormonal raging kids are going to be staying here. I already have to watch you and now your sister. Two teens are enough!” Maria stated sternly.
“Grandma! They are kids. Look I’ll cover the fees just let them crash.” Angelica asked. “Fine! But an extra twenty is coming out of your allowance!” Maria placed a hand on her hip whilst the other grabbed rooms keys.
“Here! Little gutter snipes.” Maria mumble chucking everyone except Angel and Jimena a room key. “Do whatever you want! As long as it isn’t ruining the shack or illegal.” Maria stated. “Unless there’s no cops around, Then anything’s legal!” Maria gave a hearty laugh as she strolled off to sell more fake legends.
“Well, My name is Angelica Mondragon. As you can see my cheap grandmother runs this shack and rents the rooms upstairs. Myself- I research various of creatures in Gravity Falls not only to continue my grandfather’s legacy but to discover why I have this…ability. All in all welcome, Try not to scare the mice around here…Last one had kids.” Angel shivered just at the thought.

“Angel!” he exclaimed, “You were upstairs this whole time? And here I was thinking you got eaten by a zombie.” Passing by a quick fistbump as Oliver grinned. The interesting part was that now, there was another girl with Angel. Probably an individual tour then, that would explain why the other kids were waiting about downstairs.
“I already gave everyone down here the quick tour,” Oliver continued, “And offered Rae a chance to room at my house, though it’s her choice in the end.” He cast a glance in their direction before switching back to Angelica, “but about you, who’s that girl?” The one wearing all black, the skulls, and beanie. It was honestly a strange, creepy kind of vibe, but probably also confident in the same regard. Either way, Oliver hadn’t even talked to them yet for making base assumptions.
Still, the new students just kept coming, not that it was that bad. “Usually I joke about doppelgangers with the reoccurring shapeshifters in the forest, but that girl looks exactly like you, just without the hair,” he commented, “So new experiment? Are you keeping creatures now or just the usual clone?”
Like always, Angel’s grandmother was a joy to be around with her theatrics. Oliver made another note to probably bring something by next time for her, somewhat of a substitute for actual cash, but homemade treats could easily top that. At the very least, it was a thanks for allowing Oliver and friends to continue using the Mystery Shack to hang out.
“On that note with the various creatures, I also mentioned visiting the catacombs. Would you all be down for that?” he proposed.
There was a quick few moments where Oliver felt his phone vibrate, already perking up. A reply message from Blake, and quick as well. Pulling out the messaging app, he could at least treasure how she followed the initial few emojis with the trend he’d started.
Turns out Angelica arrived after all. I’m still trying to get everyone to the catacombs. Wanna meet there after you set up with your family?
With a quick ‘send’, Oliver tucked the phone back in his pocket, turning attention back to the other kids in the room.

“There is no need to stay if you want to work on your cupcakes,” he immediately insisted, “I’ve already sketched up plans for the next stage. It’s summer, there will always be plenty of new people to kindly introduce to this town. Nothing bad is going to happen if you take a break for a bit.” To make his point, Arlo gestured widely to a corner section of the wall covered in screens, charts, maps, and dials. All of them scanning, collecting data, and monitoring for the strange and bizarre.
Marlene sighed. Still somewhat tired she pondered for a moment. “I guess your right, A break is in order. In fact it’s long overdue…” Marlene trailed off as she looked at the maps. Filtering through any common occurrence by still keeping a steady read on everything.
“And I swear not to blow the lab down,” he continued, “at least there is no open-source of ethanol-” Arlo paused. Marlene raised an eyebrow in confusion. As Arlo looked at the map a blinking pattern ensued. Arlo approached the mechanism, Tapping at it a few times. “Must be the calibration,” Arlo muttered. Marlene approached the screens. Technology at this moment wouldn’t help.
Summoning a few small plant minions, Marlene knelt down to them. “Go on, Find out what’s casing that effect.” A green mist overflowed them as they ran off slipping through cracks and crevasses. “That blinking could be a malfunction but if that’s the case it would happen all over the dial…I’m not entirely sure but the plantlings will help with in-depth research.” Marlene stated. Arlo threw in sensors for any plausible creatures that weren’t from this reality. If the dial was blinking, that would indicate a foreign creature arriving.
Marlene huffed. “There’s always something.” Ringing an agent she sternly ordered him to use the advance protocol on their monitoring system. As he accepted the order immediately Marlene hung up.
“Just in case.” Marlene gave a glance to Arlo. Clearing his throat before continuing, “Just save a few cupcakes for me?” Arlo asked. Marlene chuckled. “Of course, I still get that frap though.” Marlene stated shifting her weight.
My phone buzzed again, another text from Oliver. “Hmmm, catacombs…? Definitely.” I said to myself, quickly texting back.
‘Hell yeah, I’ll be there in ten!’ I slid off my bed, my cat Sophie winding around my legs. I pulled on my Converse, walking out the door. “I’m heading out with friends! Be back later!” I called, walking outside and grabbing my bike. I quickly pedaled to the Mystery Shack, stopping once I got there. I hopped off my bike, knocking on the door.

Already the whole plan failed with the goal of keeping Marlene away from work. Slightly dejected, Arlo watched as she also treated the malfunctioning alarm with the same precautions, calling local authorities and even sending out her typical plant creatures. He honestly just hoped that everything came back with a solid negative. It was too bloody early in the summer for bad things to be happening.
Stepping over one of the last skittering plant minions, he noticed the distant green mist around it before letting the creature crawl away. Surely someone would notice the moving plants and then just chalk it off to be another typical Gravity Falls thing. That was the one benefit since everything was weird, no one questioned anything else that fit the pattern.
“Iced Mocha,” he idly responded, “You always get the flavour, are you sure a little change also isn’t in place? The coffee shop is one of the better places in town, they don’t just sell one flavour or even all drinks.”
On another note, there were still the few recurring tasks at hand. Research with the zombie fluid, plans for the next ‘attack’ on the town (though perhaps in the next few days to keep this more normalized), and then the potential warning from the dials. Plenty of creatures to experiment on, Marlene kept so many that Arlo could choose one at random to unleash.
“I was thinking after this, if you want of course, potentially visiting the spaceship? It’s still quite a mystery and so much left to explore. It’s any scientist’s dream to decipher all the writing in there or discover the origins.” Sheepishly looking back at Marlene for the approval. More like: What Arlo definitely wanted do and what Marlene had most likely placed at the bottom of her list for now.
“Or help with authorities…” he quickly backtracked, “You just take you time with the cupcakes, I can cover any shifts of yours for today. You deserve it.”
She didn’t pay much attention to the conversation at hand. Hopefully no one noticed that she wasn’t really a people person.
“I’m not really a kid though,” Rae mumbled as she fidgeted with her necklace again. “I wonder what’s next… Gnomes? Werewolves? A chimera?”
The girl shook her head and looked at the strange design on the floor’s carpet, ignoring the constant notifications from her phone. They sure are annoying, she’d think to herself. I hope to the supernatural that none of them try to come here; then I’d be screwed.
At the same time, Raelyn thought of her parents. They’d probably be worried about her, but it wasn’t as if she was a kid. Hell, she was just barely nineteen years of age. Practically an adult.
She caught the last of the conversation, where a girl named Angelica was introducing herself.
“…I research various creatures in Gravity Falls not onlyto continue my grandfather’s legacy, but to discover why…”
Rae started to feel dizzy again, though she hasn’t used the ability from her necklace for several weeks. Maybe it’s the town being a hub for the unnatural, she pondered. I’m just not used to being somewhere like here. Maybe that’s it.
She groaned quietly, putting her hands against her temples.

Location: The Mystery Shack.
“Angel!” he exclaimed, “You were upstairs this whole time? And here I was thinking you got eaten by a zombie.” Passing by a quick fistbump as Oliver grinned. “Oh please! I’ve defeated far larger and more dangerous creatures. A few zombies? No big deal.” Angel smirked confidently.
“I already gave everyone down here the quick tour,” Oliver continued, “And offered Rae a chance to room at my house, though it’s her choice in the end.” He cast a glance in their direction before switching back to Angelica, “but about you, who’s that girl ?” The one wearing all black, the skulls, and beanie.
“Usually I joke about doppelgangers with the reoccurring shapeshifters in the forest, but that girl looks exactly like you, just without the hair,” he commented, “So new experiment? Are you keeping creatures now or just the usual clone?”
Angelica chuckled. Taking note of her exposure. Jimena’s face probably froze from being called an experiment. "No, Not her. My clones are locked in security chambers and the current experiment is in a cryonics-vault to stop the living process. Angelica probably sounded like a borderline killer. It was expected I mean what 17-Year Old girl did experiments and created clones, gadgets and antidotes with monster research. Genuinely only Oliver and her grandmothers knew.
“Regardless- This is my sister. Jimena Mondragon…I just met her today as all of you.” Angelica gently pushed her sister forward a bit. “She lives with our parents, She’s just here for the summer.” Angel added crossing her arms.
“On that note with the various creatures, I also mentioned visiting the catacombs. Would you all be down for that?” Oliver proposed.
“As always! Let me just grab a few equipment and necessities.” Angelica stated. “Take these, Smell nullify, Anti-venom and saliva antidotes and breathing fluid pods.” The names are pretty self explanatory but I’ll break it down anyway-" Angelica trailed off.
“The smell nullify spray as suggested removes your scent, Which tons of creatures especially the ones without sound or sight use their nose to track prey instead. If you aren’t wearing this down in the catacombs your likely to die but a high percentage. The venom and saliva antidotes stop anyone from being poisoned by venom or acid saliva, Alongside the saliva from a zombie bite. Although I’m still working on a tool to heal from a zombie wound it’s still a prototype for now. And finally the breathing fluids are pods filled with oxygen the catacombs can get pretty deep in depth and tight spots have little to no oxygen so these are required…There’s only 7 use them wisely.” Angelica explained everything cautiously.
“All in all, We should be fine as long as we stick together.” Angelica stated confidently as she snagged multiple bio-weapons inserting a few power-sticks into the chamber. Cocking back the gun as it loaded. Tossing the guns to everyone. “For protection.” Angel added then took our her journal and clipped it to the side of her waist- Just for extra bulk she strapped a sword carrier on her back and slid her purple glowing plasma sword in the carrier.
“Alright, Be prepared newcomers.” Angel smiled of course their faces were horrified but it was just another morning for Angel. Regardless she attempted to give everyone an encouraging look.

The responding text was fairly fast again, Oliver reading the affirmation from Blake to also join this little adventure. Things had to be in his favour for today because while she had to leave for unpacking, being able to talk her parents into a little get-together time was quite remarkable.
Oliver headed over toward the door to welcome Blake in person, “Another member to our quest of the day. You certainly picked the right friends.”
Angelica continued with her explanation speech, noting precautions and gear for the adventure. It was just another typical day, and everyone else would grow to it fairly soon. Even then, Oliver still treated each opportunity like it was the first time. He loved it, and there was practically nowhere else to ever recreate any of these journeys.
Picking up one of the blasters Angel offered, he noticed the change in design since the last time he was here. With a choice between melee and ranged, ranged was always the answer. Let Angelica have her fun with the laser sword, Oliver was fine sniping from the back. To make a point, he hoisted up another blaster to toss to Blake, “I’ll suggest these ones. Nice way to not get guts all over you when you fire.”
Still, it was a tad hard to wrap around the other fact about Angelica. Sure, the catacombs was a nice idea to branch out, but Angel suddenly showing with a surprise twin? Oliver had seen movies with less of a plot twist.
So he just waved at Jimena, “…nice to meet you then.” Right, if that wasn’t condescending at all. It wasn’t even that bad, no one would get confused by their appearances because they were just aesthetically different. It was just the sheer fact that Angel had a secret twin. Imagine living your whole life, then just finding that out without warning.
Of course, Angel was dealing with that just spectacularly. Typical her, and quite a trait to admire.
However, Rae maintaining her silence for most of this did catch Oliver’s attention. Nearing slightly, he tapped her shoulder again, a nice parody of how they met just a few hours earlier.
“Hey there, are you alright?” he started, “Angel offered you a sweet spot here, but I promise my offer still stands about rooming with me. There’s also an adventure…”
She was just quieter now, not really responsive and looking less lively than before. Frowning, Oliver took another step closer, testing boundaries as they came. “I suppose it can be overwhelming,” he commented on a different tone, “but we’ll all be here for you.”
@ForeverAngel @ThePoeticRaven @GlitterFist @Ouijaloveletters
“My head’s… killing me. Probably the town,” she mumbled, the headache lessening, but only slightly. “Hopefully the catacombs aren’t as bad as the surface.”
The gun was sitting beside her, as she caught it moments earlier. The only problem was that she had no idea how to use it. There weren’t any gun ranges back in her old town, and her father forbade guns in the household for some strange reason. She sighed before raising her head up to meet Oliver’s.
“The supernatural stuff isn’t overwhelming,” Rae said finally. “Seems pretty normal to me. It’s just… something’s wrong. It started just after the undead got sucked into those holes, though it wasn’t that bad at first…”
She’d trail off, feeling another headache emerge. Something, or someone, was messing with things they shouldn’t be.
I caught the blaster, grinning. “Shît’s going to go down if we’ll need these.” I said, looking over at the girl wearing skulls. “Hey, I like your outfit.”

“I can get you acetaminophen for the headache,” Oliver noted to Rae, “or rather Angel can. It’s her house after all. And hey, if anything, the catacombs is a nice way to take your mind off all this current chaos. Maybe we’ll find the answer to the sudden summoning and see what rose the undead creatures. If something feels wrong and the adventure still doesn’t work, I’ll take you guys all out for frozen yoghurt.”
And everyone loved the frozen yoghurt. Summer specials with sweets. That rivalled any bad mood on any day.
“Look’s like we’re all geared up for the most part. If anyone has additional queries, feel free to bug Angel. She’s the one who built all of this after all. If some of you aren’t quite ready, I can take a small group outside for target training. The forest is all around us, just choose a few trees and plaster a target board. We’ll all be experts by the end of the summer.”

“Iced Mocha,” he idly responded, “You always get the flavour, are you sure a little change also isn’t in place? The coffee shop is one of the better places in town, they don’t just sell one flavour or even all drinks.” Arlo added.
Marlene chuckled. “I know I know- I guess I’m an old woman when it comes to food choices…You know what. Surprise me.” Marlene stated calmly.
“I was thinking after this, if you want of course , potentially visiting the spaceship? It’s still quite a mystery and so much left to explore. It’s any scientist’s dream to decipher all the writing in there or discover the origins.” Sheepishly looking back at Marlene for the approval.
“Or help with authorities…” Arlo quickly backtracked, “You just take you time with the cupcakes, I can cover any shifts of yours for today. You deserve it.” Arlo added.
Marlene smirked standing up. Arlo obviously really wanted to go. “Alright, Spaceship it is.” Marlene stated with a smile as Arlo perked up. Clicking a button as a roller-coaster ride like seat emerged from the nearby flooring. A sleek detail to enter the weapons/ outfit room alongside extra resources.
Plopping down on a seat Marlene patted the one next to her, Once they were on the ride the A.I. System immediately asked which room to be transported too. “Weapons.” Marlene stated as the A.I. confirmed location and the ride began passing speedily through a tunnel.

Marlene slightly clinged to Arlo’s arm, She’d never admitted it but roller coaster’s terrified her. Despite having such a lavish mechanism for deep-routed transportation. After they arrived and the ride came to a halt the usual scanning and fingerprint requirement granted them access.
The door opened and there stood the weapons room in all it’s beauty, Various of guns, swords, bombs and anything in-between sat proudly on-top of high tech security shelves. Robo-suits and astronaut get ups were in capsules.
"Pick your choice, Marlene plopped down on a nearby table swinging her legs. She was excited beyond measure considering she hadn’t used the armory in so long and a long awaited night of space discovery was needed.
Looking at the weapons and gadgets- Marlene settled on two blasters. A regular and round-cannon that aided in her plant abilities. Powerful orb balls charged the guns alongside the belt that had emergency medicine and resourceful necessities. Giving Arlo a momentary wave as she went into a nearby dressing room and changed.
Emerging from the room Marlene wore a purple tech jumpsuit, Her logo plastered on the front with her utility belt neatly placed and comfortable yet powered gripped gloves and boots. Her dark long tresses cascaded down to her legs with a fresh layer of purple-themed makeup.
“You ready?” Marlene asked flashing Arlo a smile. She summoned a rocket as a countdown was ready to be activated on call.
