Film a hundred & thirty:
- An early version of the restaurant scene was shot showing the Chiodo brothers sitting at a table in the background as extras.
- The special effects department had to coat the balloon dog’s legs with latex because the balloons kept popping when they touch the pine needles on the forest floor.
- The Dickies, the band who wrote and performed the film’s theme song, had actually not seen the film prior to writing the song.
Film a hundred & thirty-one:
- Veronica Hamel’s debut.
- Future film star Sylvester Stallone made an appearance as an extra in this film. He’s the one dancing in front of the organ pipes during the first disco scene.
- Sutherland and Fonda developed a nonexclusive romantic relationship offscreen which lasted until about June 1972. He was her date to the Oscars when she won Best Actress for this movie.
Film a hundred & thirty-two:
- At the time of the film’s production, the manga it was based on was less than half-finished, forcing the filmmakers to create an ending and attempt to compensate for incomplete character development.
- The television series of the same name (2001), retells a more complete version of the manga’s storyline, though it is also not entirely accurate to the source material.
- The ending song for the film is sung by a group of the same name as the film. The song they sing is Forever Love, and when guitarist Hide died, Toshi (lead vocalist), sang it at his funeral.
