Guess the Films!

Film a hundred & thirty:

  1. An early version of the restaurant scene was shot showing the Chiodo brothers sitting at a table in the background as extras.
  2. The special effects department had to coat the balloon dog’s legs with latex because the balloons kept popping when they touch the pine needles on the forest floor.
  3. The Dickies, the band who wrote and performed the film’s theme song, had actually not seen the film prior to writing the song.

Film a hundred & thirty-one:

  1. Veronica Hamel’s debut.
  2. Future film star Sylvester Stallone made an appearance as an extra in this film. He’s the one dancing in front of the organ pipes during the first disco scene.
  3. Sutherland and Fonda developed a nonexclusive romantic relationship offscreen which lasted until about June 1972. He was her date to the Oscars when she won Best Actress for this movie.

Film a hundred & thirty-two:

  1. At the time of the film’s production, the manga it was based on was less than half-finished, forcing the filmmakers to create an ending and attempt to compensate for incomplete character development.
  2. The television series of the same name (2001), retells a more complete version of the manga’s storyline, though it is also not entirely accurate to the source material.
  3. The ending song for the film is sung by a group of the same name as the film. The song they sing is Forever Love, and when guitarist Hide died, Toshi (lead vocalist), sang it at his funeral.

  4. The scene with the psychiatrist was mostly ad-libbed. Pakula used just one camera and later said he should have used two, as Vivian Nathan’s reactions were much more interesting in the takes where the camera focused on Jane Fonda.
