“I was just going to short circuit all the lights, but sure. Magic, that, that works as well,” he stated.

“You’re really going all out,” Xero commented while she did her spell. “Whilst I appreciate the compliment that easy even an intermediate spell.” Evangeline chuckled.

Evangeline couldn’t help but admit that she missed the rush of being a tyrant. Of course she still cared about her residents and hotel but recently she’s grown tired, Tired of deciding between who she wants to be. Maybe this was what she needed.

Regardless Evangeline watched Xero with a raised eyebrow as he approached the prince. “Quentin,” Xero greeted, “lovely night to cede Hell, wouldn’t you think?” Just a quick shot and all that, a fantastical display of materializing his weapons, right before the trigger.

Evangeline shook her head with a smirk, His constant prideful bragging was always such a dangerous move. Xero quickly knocked out the prince with whatever device he used.

“Evangeline, luv , I have the prince. If could bring us to my fortress, the time loop device is situated there.” Xero stopped by tossing the body by her feet. Most of the guests had fallen by now regardless, no one would notice.

Evangeline rolled her eyes. “You created a time loop device, When I can open time looping vortexes?” Evangeline stated. Looking down at the unconscious prince she shrugged snapping a finger as her shadow lifted the prince.

Evangeline summoned a vortex. “Ladies first.” Evangeline teased throwing Xero into the portal as Evangeline jumped in as-well.

After going through the portal for a few seconds they arrived at Xero’s fortress. Evangeline stared at the expensive high tech and modernized look.

“Hum…It’s certainly you.” Evangeline stated shifting her weight as her shadow dropped the prince on a nearby couch.

“Alright. What’s exactly your plan with him?” Evangeline asked.

“Oh, I have plenty of a plan,” he expressed, “time loop, much similar to what you pulled at the Red Room those months ago, only this time it’s regulated. There is no magical element, no unpredictability, everything is based on facts and completely controllable. It’s practically foolproof and if you wish, I’ll let you visit the poor royal yearly just in case, but no, that’s not the problem here.”

Xero stepped forwards, looking at Eva while taking up both of her hands. It was nice, serene at that moment. Just the skyline from the fortress window and the pale blue and white interior. He almost hated what had to happen next.

“We need to talk,” he stated, “I loved all of this, I really did. The fighting, the killing, just like old times. With you by my side, it was incredible. No matter what, I’ll still remember the masquerade for what happened. You truly made everything magical.” He dropped his gaze for a second, flickering out the window.

“But I need to know that this is truly what you want. It would be my pleasure if we did this all the time. Territories, disposing of other overlords, running Hell, but I would need to know that you’re really on board with this. You could walk away at any moment and leave unscathed. You have your friends at the hotel, everyone who cares about you, hell, you even have your family. Who wouldn’t want all of that waiting just in case?”

He laughed lightly, reminiscing like it was a personal joke. “I don’t possess any of that. What happened today and everything that comes after is very real for me. There is no backup, no secret plots after this. I see this plan through or face exterminators. The prince is dead and I killed him, that won’t ever change.”

Xero let go of her hands to walk back to the already dissolving demon, sighing as the particles faded. The call to the respawn was already happening, soon the entire masquerade would know and it would be all over Hell. There was no stopping that.

“I need to know that you’re willing to stay by my side through it all. I can accept that you created that hotel for a publicity stunt, gathered a few hopeless demons for a charity case just to gain recognition, but in no way do you actually believe that yourself. Everyone knows that redemption doesn’t exist. Evangeline, you are evil, and I mean that in the best way possible. The sheer amount of achievements you managed here is and always be impressive, being one of the first female overlords to make such a name, demons will remember you forever. You just can’t be ‘good’.”

This time Xero held out a hand for her, a flash of lighting outside right on cue. Having a flair for the dramatics, clearly so, though there was no cocky smile this time, not with his heart on the line.

“Evangeline, will you join me in ruling Hell forever? Know that no matter what happens, I will initiate the time loop and take over Hell. Everyone who stands in my will be crushed, and the device behind me is proof enough. Whether the time loop opens up with one body or two, is up to you, I only wish that you make the right choice.”

“If I had any doubts I would’ve sent you into a vortex again before the night even started.” Evangeline stated with a small laugh.

“And please, You couldn’t beat me if you tried 100 more times.” Evangeline stated cockily with a smirk.

“But that’s why we’d work better as a team.” Evangeline added sincerely.

Taking his hand firmly. “I guess we’re down a new route, Partner.” Evangeline smiled.

" I think you are misphrasing it, Malcolm, I wouldn’t say she joins the new project rather than rejoin the evolved version. Not that much has changed yet except for the addition of a few more demons. After all, we both missed the excitement of four overlords under one roof" I said and looked around only to spot then all here as well. “I stand corrected, maybe we’re able to see the excitement in person after all,” I said as I was able to spot both Lucious and Erika somewhere outside and knew Xero and Evangeline were somewhere as well.

“Yeah, it wasn’t my intention first but I stayed for the people here until I left.” Roxanne said.

Nothing lit up better in that exact moment, even Xero never quite expected that. Truth be told, it wasn’t like these feeling were new, they were always there. It just took a masquerade to get things toll roll the right wat. It still felt ethereal, unreal. Just standing there, accepting the confirmation and the kiss still felt like everything was going to fall apart in the next moment.

There was nothing else to describe it as well, both of them knew full well that no one was intoxicated anymore, whatever act pulled earlier was gone. Xero held Evangeline moments after, some semblance of expecting her to walk away, but then she didn’t. She just didn’t.

“Right then,” he interjected while spinning away toward the disintegrating body, “tasks to do, demons to kill. I do appreciate your enthusiasm for believing that your power holds some significance, but I assure you right after this I will devise a mathematical standpoint for magic.” Perhaps there was an inkling of agreement that Evangeline was the one holding more power within this relationship, however, it would be easy enough to counter that by filling flaws with what magic couldn’t have.

Xero tossed the prince into the time loop, locking that machine into place before just watching as the lights flashed. After that, the machine was just tucked away, swallowed up by the ever-moving fortress to be stored somewhere more secure. That was it, a way to trap demons in a near-death without the use of an exterminator blade. No such other thread could exist.

“Care to take us back to the palace? Somewhere where everyone can see, I would love the crowns as there needs to be someone to fill that,” he requested, waltzing back to Evangeline, “The royal staff sentry robots should be easily hacked and primed for our use. Since all the upper-level demons are at that party, I suggest you continue with your decay spell. Don’t just stop at the ballroom, wipe out everyone that set for there. We effectively erase the entire upper management of hell and I can always arrange a few more time loops for your use.”

“I’m sure that the rehabilitation project is fairly simple,” he started, “and the trial length is generally a week to keep it short. It isn’t realistic, but the basis is that anyone can change within that week, whether for the better or worse. You can stay longer after that if you wish. I think the fact that Devin is no longer sleeping around with everyone is example enough,” Malcolm said. There was a paused smile after that. Technically, he was correct in that regard.

“Though I don’t know how Xero and Eva were brought into this. Eva did say that she was gathering demons to meet up at the barbecue however she hasn’t returned and there are no more demons joining us…” Almost on cue, Malcolm spun around for a glance. “You’re right, she isn’t back. Something might have happened to her, at the same time, she’s more than capable of taking care of herself.”

“It’s probably no matter, correct? Unless you guys are down for a search. At the very least, she’s conversing with long lost friends but we also have nothing much to do here.”

He was more so surprised that the others actually wanted to take up that offer for a good ol’ search, but there was also the option of standing there just simply talking. When compared, things did look a tad one-sided.

Malcolm just set the still-full glass down on a nearby table. “Perhaps the main ballroom then. Mostly everyone is congregated there. Toothfairy has his unique weapons just in case, and Raphael is the philosopher when it comes to talking us out of certain situations. Just like old times, I suppose, no overlords to depend on.”

So they could make rounds. Malcolm knew that this was more so of a distraction for everyone, but it was well needed. Nothing bad could happen with the prince still present anyways. For the sake of keeping the mood, perhaps some fresh air would be good for everyone."

“Ballroom then,” he reiterated, “shall we?”

I was sort of following the conversation. The moment they get up, I do too. “Sure, why not," I said. “Who knows, maybe we’ll meet others demons as well, I’m pretty sure I haven’t met everyone yet” I added and brushed off my clothes and straightened my bow.

This moment was bliss. It still felt a little off but it was the confession that was needed, After all they’ve been playing cat and mouse for decades. I wonder how the news would react now especially hearing that Evangeline was back to her old ways.

But it can be reversed- Although that’s the issue with magic you can cast spells all you want but only magic can reverse it.” Evangeline explained.

Admittedly they’d have to learn to explore each other’s powers to bring their fullest strength together. They both had views of each other’s magic types being pointless. Technology’s weakest was it’s predictability, Magic’s weakness was it’s unpredictability but combining those would create the most powerful set any demon or overlord could ever dream of having.

Evangeline’s eyes lit up. “Crowns? I suppose diamonds are a girl’s best friend.” Evangeline smirked grabbing Xero’s hand and opening a vortex jumping in they were inside the palace once more.

Tapping her staff on the ground Evangeline lit up the area and stepped over the decaying bodies.“We should head further up, I’d get a clear view of everything.” Evangeline stated as she bent down slightly of course her dress highly annoying her. “Hold on.” Evangeline smiled as she leaped into the air and landed on the balcony of the outdoor bar/grill.

Dusting off anything that caught wind on her dress. “This is the inevitable part, What the residents will say.” Evangeline stated opening the door to the bar/grill and seeing everyone.

Reciting the incantation once more the same magenta mist erupted much more powerful this time as people began coughing and hacking, Some were already beginning to rot and a riot began to form. Taking a peek at the nearby railing the rest were falling and decaying as-well.

“It has only affected everyone aside from myself, Xero and the rest of you…***Because we have a proposition.” Evangeline smirked.

Shooting a subtle wink at the ladies as they left, Devin also headed out to look for the clothing store. It was not hard to find at all. Devin was not fond of wasting time. He started to look for the perfect outfits when he heard a female voice behind him. “May I help you to sir?” he turned around to see it was probably a staff. “Of course you can” he smirked. “You can help me to find something smoking for a pool party… With those beautiful eyes right?” he asked for help and flirted as well. The staff chuckled. “Yes, of course please follow me…”

“Yoohoo! Devin, are you ready for us?” Luscious called Devin from behind. Devin curled up his lips into a naughty smirk. “I’m not sure. Maybe I am?” he said before h turned around. The loose unbuttoned shirt and swimming trunks perfectly showing off his nice structure. He shot a wink again.

Devin walked up to us and was his flirtatious self. Honestly, he did look good in his swim trunks and shirt, but even now, I just stayed shy behind Luscious. I was about to set myself over my shyness however when suddenly the people around us started dying. “w-what is happening?” I asked scared and looked around. It seemed that we were the only ones who weren’t affected out of everyone near the pool.

I felt anger. Not just grossed out, but real anger. These demons stayed demons after all. Especially Evangeline, who’s best friend was born in hell and cared about the demons around her. “And here I thought her project was promising” I mumble.

“Evangeline!” I yelled as I took a step forward. “You have doomed yourself” I added. “Looks like it doesn’t matter anymore what I look like since my offer isn’t going to stand anymore,” I said and closed my eyes. I focused all my energy on my appearance. I knew it was risky to reveal my true form here surrounded by demons, but I knew they wouldn’t suddenly turn against me, most of them wouldn’t.

My bee wings decade and a pair of feathered wings grew from my back. my yellow hair turned blue, and my pen turned into my staff.

“Your project was heard, and answered, and right as you received that call…you decide to turn a deaf ear to it!” I said grinding my teeth. “YOU DON’T DESERVE A WAY OUT OF HERE!” I yell. “You just proved that the exterminators were the right call, after all, they just had to learn who to kill instead” I added angrily.

The masquerade systems were rather easy to hack in the end. The whole mainframe was just taken over, just like that. All of the robotic guards were frozen, guests falling down, all dead within moments. That was perhaps the one things Evangeline could do right with her sorcery. It didn’t mean that Xero had to appreciate it in any way.

Her magic was practically flowing around her and at least that was quite radiant. The riots were quaint, but all easily ignored. Evangeline, in all of her glory just proved the inevitable. She was born for this destiny, being evil, conquering Hell, none of this ‘rehabilitation’ nonsense. Together, they stood at the ledge, facing the members of the Hazbin Hotel.

Xero curled his fists to summon to masquerade sentry units forwards, all of them lumbering with spilt drink trays, lipstick stains, broken masks, and messy confetti. Evangeline just began her introduction, truly magnificent. Even the fact that most of her former coworkers hardly reacted just showed how much more she would have to do.

“The lovely Evangeline has decided to join me in ruling Hell and out of pity for you lot, she will allow some to join us.” Though clearly Xero despised that part. It should have been just them and no one else. That was the inevitable compromise, the fact that Evangeline still willingly cared for these pathetic demons.

“Everyone else will be killed, it’s really that simple,” Xero finished. He didn’t expect most people to join, it was just out of fear now, and really, what else could they even do?

“However, there are some prerequisites,” he continued, summoning the sentries forwards with new raised weapons. “I command you to exterminate Raphael and Toothfairy. Everyone else has a choice, but those two are better dead.”

As if on cue, the robots stormed forwards as Xero looked on. How funny was that? A secret exterminator and an angel, all hiding in Hell. Of course, only true demons were ever allowed.
