How many genders are there?

I watch a this social experiment where a trans woman walked into a men’s bathroom. She got weird glances and then she got kicked out of the bar. She did this cuz she got comments telling her to so she wanted to show them that she like, actually can’t.

When we find a biological predisposition for girls to wear pink and play with dolls, I’ll believe gender and sex are intrinsically linked. If there’s no barbie gene, :woman_shrugging:t4:

Like when you’re doing… a survey. For example I’ve done surveys before, and each time I see a question about gender, the choices are: male, female (sometimes) rather not say and recently, non-binary. (The last two, I perfectly understand why it was included)

Then there’s the fact that if you wear a dress, makeup and heels, you’re automatically a woman.

Jobs are affected by gender too. Nurses? Often women. Been that way for years. Construction workers? Often men, also a long time thing.

Disclaimer: I don’t believe most of this stuff at all. However I do have questions about gender and why you don’t think it’s real

Male and female are sex terms, not gender ones.

Yes, and some women were born with penises, but they are women and they often wear dresses and makeup and heels. That’s how it isn’t tied to sex at all.

And then you have some drag queens who wear dresses and makeup and heels, but they are performing as women and identify as men.

This has nothing to do with sex and everything to do with the way society made women work. The jobs it is “acceptable” for women to do have nothing to do with sex. We made those jobs up and we decided to make women do them more. There isn’t a nurse gene.

Also, what’s stopping trans women from being nurses? It isn’t their sex

More males are becoming nurses anyway, times are changing.

Same goes for typical male jobs, more females are becoming athletes like Serena Williams.

All of this is gender stuff, nothing to do with sex. Women can and are construction workers quite frequently nowadays. My mum has a male nurse tending to her right this moment. There’s nothing biologically coded into DNA that makes this impossible. It’s all societal. Gender roles are just as nonsensical as gender itself

Dress, makeup and heels? I mean, apart from the heels aren’t you describing a kilt and war paint? Are you saying people who wear a kilt and war paint are automatically women?

and it isn’t like this wasn’t happening for a long time, it’s just becoming more popular or more noticed.

I don’t know if any trans athletes or anything which I’m going to have to look up

Heels were originally made for men who were riding horses so that their feet wouldn’t slip on the leg thingies. If you look at old paintings of kings like Henry VIII, he’s wearing heels

Also I’m dating a woman, then. You learn something new every day!

Following the logic of certain clothes making you a female does that make us genderless if we are naked?

That’s interesting, why do you think so?

No, I do not believe that people who wear a kilt and war paint are automatically women. Guys wore togas back in ancient times too! Even in my religion, some men wear head covers as well. I just wanna know why these things are said to be “womanly”, when… they’re really not. Didn’t guys in Europe wear powdered wigs?

It could be many reasons for this. Most people are to afraid or stun to do anything at the time. Some just don’t have the guts to do that or maybe they did something bad which would render them useless. Most people are just clueless as well…

If wearing a dress, makeup and heels makes you a woman, then you’d be a woman no matter what your sex is

The more you know! That’s so cool, I didn’t actually know that

If people are clueless, though, then there’s nothing stopping a man from walking into a woman’s bathroom. If they aren’t going to call the police when they see assault right in front of them, why would they if a man walked into a woman’s bathroom?

Oh god Telly

Episode can’t take jokes :eyes:

That’s a question I don’t have to answer to. Most people in that situation would probably run and not even call the police at all. The world we live in now most people care more about themselves than others. Which there isn’t anything wrong with putting your safety first, but you should help people when you have a chance.
