How was school different in the 90s?

I went to school in the 90s, so here’s what I remember that was different from now:

  • Old desktop computers. We had those old MacIntosh computers in our classrooms where we could play games like Number Crunchers (the frog math game), Amazon Trail, and Oregon Trail. I got my very first PC in 1995, but it was a very new thing, so teachers never assigned any homework that required the use of a computer or printer.

  • Overhead projectors. Teachers would write on those clear acetate sheets with markers (I think dry erase fine markers?) and place those sheets on the projector whenever we needed to copy anything.

  • All the cool girls had Lisa Frank stationery. There was this one Lisa Frank folder I remember having in 5th grade with a cat dressed up like Cleopatra, called ‘Cleocatra’.

  • We didn’t have a whiteboard or a blackboard. We had a green chalkboard. The teachers let us write on it sometimes.

  • School lunches were kind of gross, but I always brought my lunch.

  • If we wanted to have ice cream at lunch, we had to give our money to our teacher in the morning, and she would write down what kind of ice cream we wanted next to our name.

  • The Scholastic book fair! I loved that, and a bought a book a few times. I also loved it when our teachers read books to the class.

What other things do you guys know about school in the 90s?

We still had some things from the 90’s. I graduated this year for reference.
