Hmm, I think I would interpret it as someone who’s only able to relax and sleep when they are dead, so not during their life if that makes sense, what do you think @celestialkitten? 7/20

You’re so restless and hardworking that sleep isn’t a priority. Success is only accomplished through effort as sleep is only accomplished through death. There is no time for something “optional” like sleep.

This was the first thing I thought of. :P

I kinda interpret it as, you’ll sleep when you think by your standards that you’ve accomplished something, but by putting the word, “death” in there you’re saying that your work isn’t going to be good enough, so you’ll keep trying until you die.

Pretty much your all work and no rest. You would rather work yourself sick then to stop and take breaks to pace your body.

I interpret it as only being able to truly rest when you are dead. Maybe because of a lot of suffering going on in your life, and constantly having to deal with that, or maybe working really hard and always being busy.

I also interpret it as someone not valuing sleep because they believe things like work are more important :blue_heart:

I think it means that the person will properly be able to rest when they’re dead.

I think it means that to me at least, that life is so short… And I often hear people saying, okay, now I have money and I can finally rest. You should never rest while you are alive because the world is an amazing place, full of endless possibilities and opportunities. I’d say sleep in this phrase doesn’t mean actual sleep, but rather the time you spend not doing anything productive or something that makes you happy.

I just see it as a song by set it off

You work so hard that once you take a break, life has passed by and it’s already over. Dark, but true.

It means that you will sleep when you’re dead and stay awake when you’re alive.

That’s it, right? I am really bad at taking out double meanings from sentences…

“I’ll party until I die” is usually my go-to meaning

Bump!!!

My best friend always uses this when I tell her to sleep more because she only sleeps 3-4 hours a day and I try to make her sleep more. She uses the phrase to tell me that she has more important/interesting stuff to do than sleeping

Lol that’s me
