Saige Armony
“Suicide mission…?” Saige mumbled, trying to process everything Erek was saying. But he kept going, there wasn’t time to stop and process everything.
Saige pulled out her phone and quickly opened the voice memos app to record everything Erek was saying so she would be able to listen to it again later while also giving her the chance to focus on other things Erek was saying.
“Chee…alien species…androids…pacifists…alien device…powerful technology…turn into animals…try and stop them”
Words, thoughts, and questions fluttered through Saige’s head. What Erek was saying made sense…and yet it didn’t at the same time. How could a company kill almost an entire race…or uh species…without anybody knowing?! It seemed impossible! Not to mention this weird crystal thing…if these guys have been here for over five thousands years…then were these guys the reason why dinosaurs went extinct? With like…the meteor wiping them out? Why were they here? How could anybody know if the Chee influenced natural technological evolution of-
“We have to decide as a group…I don’t trust Erek either, but we have to understand the biggest picture."
The sound of Nathaniel’s voice brought Saige out of her thought tornado. She had, indeed, blocked out the entire conversation.
"I know… I know this is a lot to take in, but our lives are already at stack…this is the only way.”
Saige watched as Nathaniel placed his hand on the box. Something stirred in her as he did so. He was willing to risk everything even though he didn’t have the full picture. It was really inspirational, selfless, and brave.
I really should be giving this more thought… Saige thought, knowing deep in her gut that what she was about to do was the right decision.
There wasn’t time to ask further questions. Saige knew that Erek could leave them any minute, but had a strange idea she wanted to test first before she touched the box.
“Screw it.” Saige said affirmatively as she pulled a flash drive out of her bag. “I’m a sucker for a good insirational speech.”
Saige turned to Erek. “Erek, I am so sorry for what I am about to do, but I have to try. If there is a chance we can talk to you after this, we have to try. We are going to have questions.” Within seconds, Saige had moved Erek’s head to the side, and plugged it into Erek’s neck with the hope that he would upload his consciousness into it so he could answer their questions later.
“I really hope we don’t regret this.” Saige sighed as she stood up placed her hand on top of Nathaniel’s hand, next to Hayden who had slipped in and taken up any available room on top of the box for Saige to place her hand on.
Saige felt her hand tingle, then felt that same sensation run through her body. It felt almost electric…powerful, really. It felt like Saige finally had a connection to something outside of her family.
There was no going back.
