Depression can make your weight worse

YUPPPPPP!!! Mental and Physical are always linked

Yeah, for sure

Having something wrong with your physical health can be really frustrating and the process of trying to find out what it is can be super discouraging if the tests you’re doing aren’t showing anything helpful

On the flip side, if you’re struggling with your mental health, you might start neglecting the things you do for your physical health purely out of loss of motivation

if i might add
people with chronic illnesses or conditions are more prone to having mental health problems, like depression, for example. because when one has a chronic issue, one cannot meet their basic needs sometimes. for example: say you’re on bed rest for months, isolated from the world, without any socialising to do or anything new to stimulate you. that has a very negative effect on your mental health.

and on the other hand, mental health affects all of your body. aside from the obvious like self destructive habits, there’s the fact that a lot of conditions can give you psychosomatic symptoms. and just in general… the brain regulates the body and if something in the brain is not working properly, then it can’t make the body work properly either.

and i’m speaking here from experience but people are not lying when they say that exercise helps with your mental health. i’m a big fitness nut. i train for my sport 4 days a week, 2 hours each day and i try to always be conscious of my health. earlier this year some stuff didn’t allow me to keep training and i had one of the worst depressive episodes i’ve had in years. but once i began exercising again i could feel the change in my mood right away. and that’s because when we exercise the brain produces more happy chemicals.

this was my reaction when i began exercising again (cw: swearing (i dunno if we have to censor swearing in pics?))

I definitely do think there is a link. For example, when I’m in a better mental state I’m more likely to put effort in my physical health. Working out, heck, even stuff like showering or brushing my teeth don’t judge, when I was depressed I didn’t always do that as often as I should
Furthermore, having physical health problems can make me stressed and anxious, so it works the other way around I think as well.
