Present day ~ December 3rd
Gaston looked up from the phone and frowned. What just happened here? Undeniably, the coffee was sweet, but… LeFou said the exact same thing at the exact same moment. His friend was surprised, Gaston - more thoughtful. He wondered how this unexpected event happened… and how to respond to it. After all, he could not show even a hint of uncertainty or confusion.
He nodded. “Hmm… yes” he grunted, overcoming the unpleasant silence that had surrounded them maliciously for those few seconds. He focused his blue eyes on the phone screen again, saving LeFou from having to react vocally to the situation. It was better for both of them to just ignore it.
He stared at the phone screen obsessively, but for an exceptionally understandable cause. As expected, Gaston never had an unreasonable reason to do something. Right now, he was waiting for a message from Belle. The man didn’t want to delude himself that she would text him - Belle was weird after all and difficult to unravel. However, from his perspective, he felt it would be polite to ask him if he had a good sleep or if their meeting was still up to date. Anything would be appropriate. Instead, he stared at a darkened screen that appeared to be mocking Gaston. The device watched him in unbearable silence as if it was quiet on purpose. The man felt if he had stared at the phone for a few more minutes, he would have gone mad. He put the device in his pocket, sighing theatrically. Essentially, to bring LeFou’s attention to his frustration. Not that he required him to cheer him up, of course not. Gaston needed no such thing - especially not someone’s pity.
Fortunately, his friend always made him feel better. And now, his filled with admiration comment made Belle’s horrible behavior from yesterday disappear momentarily out of his mind. “I know LeFou.” He replied proudly. Only now did his friend’s words make him feel uncomfortable. Only slightly, of course. After all, his friend couldn’t have possibly known if Gaston was good at THAT or not… and while the man liked to be praised… it was a bit too much. “Of course I am. Each of my female lovers knows about it," he added, louder than before, to let LeFou know his answer was a little out of place. Gaston cleared his throat and sipped some of his coffee. Only now did he remember that it was criminally sweet. He winced and put the cup farther away, not to make the same mistake.
And so Gaston decided to change the subject again. He pulled out 500 dollars in small currencies and put it on the table in front of LeFou. There was a slight commotion in the cafe. Some of the guests were whispering among themselves, wide-eyed, watching the bundle of money on the table. Gaston didn’t seem to care at all, though. He was actually pleased with all the attention. The man smirked.
“First of all.” He leaned towards his friend, happily noticing that this only caused even more curiosity among onlookers. “I slept in the hotel last night. Remember that. Second of all, you need to go to the tavern right now. Or soon, at least. Tell everyone who will be there and those who will come there at 6 p.m. that they know nothing, and if they say a word, I will deal with them myself." He turned his gaze towards the money. He patted the pile with his hand. “And if they’re still unconvinced, you probably know what to do.” Gaston stared at LeFou as if his friend was able to read everything from Gaston’s eyes. The man blinked twice, waiting for his friend’s approval.
“All is clear?” he asked, frowning and leaning even closer towards his companion.
