I know you’re banned @ShanniiWrites (and I’m banned but whateva) but we’re all on the same page! We think Episode should fix their ways! I never considered myself “active” on the forums, but when I started becoming more “active” and expressing my opinions, episode silences me. NOT TODAY SUCKERS

Which is such an issue. The forums are supposed to be there for discussion but some people seem to think only their opinions are the right ones. 
That was actually one of the things that drew me into the forums over there. I got my bachelors in english about a year ago so discussions and going over writing is right up my alley! I love it! Unfortunately now, though, it feels a lot like walking on eggshells at times. I try not to care, but sometimes it’s hard to not let it get to you.

I’m reading the story. Not reading the author bio on instagram. Also a lot of authors don’t even show their faces so…how do I know their race or not?

I remember when the Arab shelf was announced and I wanted so badly to find authors to support and read but Race/ethnicity/religion/etc. seem to rarely just be announced. I even asked on my insta and got basically nothing which makes me think others really have no idea on these things either.
There seems to be pressure for the authors of diversity shelves to be of the specific diversity which is great but then we end up with stories on shelves that add nothing to the conversation because of the author is (insert diversity here) but their characters aren’t and the story has nothing to do with it.
