Hi guys! So, as some of you know, I am partly Maori and I figured I would start a thread to help with understanding the culture and writing Maori characters.
I won’t write a massive first post though, because I am really lazy and would rather just answer questions. So please ask them!

I’ve always wondered: what’s the meaning behind the sleeve tattoos? Do you have them or do only men get them?
Gotcha, I will come back to this because it perked my interest.
It shows that you have a high rank (so like upper class), and both men and women get them if they are in that rank but oddly it’s mostly men who achieve that rank, I’m not sure why

Interesting
The best example of Maori/Polynesian people in pop culture today would the film , Moana. It was a great depiction of the race, culture, and especially the myths.
Especially the song ‘you’re welcome.’
We’re the best at singing it! 
Silence during the whole thing except from the words “you’re welcome”. 
With all Maui’s stories = My childhood at school. HAHA.
