Jessica was grateful that there was someone who could help her even though she felt embarrassed. She couldn’t pay attention to the words the lady said though, because she was still trying to catch her breath. “Thank you, thank you. I just… I’m not normally like this. I just got lost, I don’t even know how.” She frantically looked up at the hedges that towered above them. The sky seemed to be darker than when she first entered the garden.
Looking up at the hedges made her head dizzy. She started walking down the path they were on and looking at either side of herself, pointing in nameless directions. “I just walked in here like normal and all of a sudden I couldn’t find my way out. I thought I was retracing my steps, I thought-” She could feel the panic starting to rise again, her breathing shallow. The green of the hedges whirred past her vision and she almost stumbled on her heels.
Something about the maze was making her feel uneasy and she couldn’t shake it. It felt like something dreadful was looming overhead. She became quiet and crouched down on the ground as the dizziness got stronger.
Suddenly a vision formed in her eyes
The vision
Jessica could see herself running through the maze in a long white dress as photographers snapped her picture. Lights flashed everywhere but she was afraid - afraid of what could be behind her, What could be lurking in the maze, and who would find her. She knew that if she was found, she would be dead.
Jessica snapped open her eyes and looked at the woman before her. “I’m sorry, I don’t know what just happened… I’m not normally this…claustrophobic.” She wanted to mention the vision she just had but wasn’t sure if that was a good idea. Something felt… Wrong about this place but maybe it was her imagination. Did she drink too much coffee this morning? Her hands were slightly shaky as she held them to her face.
