Alright, I have a Netflix problem… in that, I add all the shows and films that look good and I wanna watch, but I never get around to watching any (or well, many). My list is growing faster than it’s getting checked off.
So I have this idea; for this thread.
I’m going to make it my mission to start watching films and shows that I’ve added to the list and thus, get the list back down to a reasonable state again.
Why am I posting here about it?
Mainly for motivation.
I’m going to try to share each film or show here that I check of the list. For each one, I’ll share what it is, along with how much of it I watched and my thoughts.
You’re more welcome to comment on each one and share what your thoughts were. You can even suggest other Netflix shows and films based on what I’m watching. Although, no guarantees on me adding it to my list, but I will go have a look at the suggestion to see if it’s something I wanna add. (wink)
As the Black Plague ravages Florence, several young nobles accept invitations to escape the epidemic in the Visconte Leonardo’s countryside estate Villa Santa.
I only watched 1.5 episodes before I couldn’t watch any more. Don’t get me wrong, I did laugh out loud a few times. It was very funny at times. However, there were also times where I was left cringing, and it took a bit at the beginning (the first episode is very long) to know the characters. … I don’t know, I feel that maybe I didn’t give it a proper chance. So if anyone does enjoy this and reasons with me to give it another go 'cause it gets better, then feel free.
This is true. I was thinking that it may not be available in the U.S since British shows don’t always make it there. However, I am wrong on both counts. As not only is it available there, but it’s an American show (with many UK actors) and created by Netflix (making it available wherever Netflix is streamed). Whoops.
Yes, yes, yes. I’m totally aware that I’ve watched a cheesy hallmark-styled Christmas film. Hold it against me all you like, particularly when I say that this is my Christmas tradition. Usually in the build up to Christmas, I watch as many cheesy Christmas films as possible. It puts me in a chill and feel-good mood in the lead up. So yeah. … Anyway, as for the film itself, I thought it was good. I would have liked a little more comedy in it. But the characters were good and story fit the brief. Although, what really made the film for me was having Beth Broderick play the mum, as in Aunt Zelda from Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
Events planner-turned-women’s prison governor Laura Willis documents the thrills and spills of life behind bars in this delightfully dry comedy series. Comedian Catherine Tate transforms into many characters — from administrators to inmates — and serves as series creator.
Six episodes of pure joy and intense laughter. Catherine Tate outdid herself with this series, it was outstanding - with the humour, the story, and of course, the characters. What was really nice was you start to despise most, if not all, of the characters that Tate plays and fall for all of the other characters (that are played by other actors) in the prison. However, by episode three, your head is spun when you realise that you’ve gained empathy for her characters and grown to really love all the other ones. The character work in this, from everyone, is superb! If you’re looking for something short and light, this show is PERFECT!
When an old card game comes to life, a family travels back in time and lands in a medieval village where they must unmask werewolves in order to return to their own time.
Despite this being a French film and having to either watch it dubbed or with subtitles, I really enjoyed it. It’s a totally chill film, particularly if you watch it dubbed 'cause then you don’t have to concentrate on reading. Yes, it’s a little predictable, but that’s what you get with a family film. I recommend if you’re looking for something funny and light to watch.
