Like maybe someone took her, kept her secretly alive on machines for years until medical advances were enough to fix her. And only now she’s recovered enough from being in a coma/on the edge of death to return. (Which her recovering could’ve made the person more obsessed, not wanting to let her go, or to not be needed anymore)
