Kairo greeted with a tip of his hat, making Atlas smile in return. “I could never miss out on a party, partner.” His response was a rather poor attempt at imitating an american accent. Still he winked, hoping it would distract from some faults.
He watched as the other man took a glass from his tray, straightening his lips to conceal his amusement. “Thank you, thank you,” he gave another bow. “A bit of both, why not? And who knows, perhaps they are permanent. But I’d love to see you try to keep up with me,” the drink tray effortlessly spun around his fingers as he spoke, emphasizing his point. Powered by his own illusions, it dipped only strategically before regaining balance, careful not to expose his tricks too soon. “Take that as less of a challenge, and more… Encouragement. It gets a bit boring when everybody simply stares.”
And finally, the moment of truth — Kairo had lifted the glass to his lips, only to have it vanish into dust. The golden liquid now became like glitter, scattering around them both. And with a snap of Atlas’ fingers, the tray followed until it dissipated into nothingness. Faint traces of magic filled the air, the lingering smell of alcohol fading with the illusion.
Meeting Kairo’s eyes, his eyebrow raised in suspicion, Atlas couldn’t help the laugh that escaped him. He covered his lips, looking away only for a second before glancing for his reaction.
“I suppose it was,” his chuckling died down and his expression softened with a tilt of his head. “I do apologize about that. I couldn’t help myself.” He reached for the glass in Kairo’s hand, taking it from him with grace. And then, he crushed it into dust much like the rest. “A real drink, and… A real glass,” he smirked. “Worry not, though, I could get you real drink. That is, if you trust me enough after this, hmm?”
