Oscars will only be accepting diverse films for best picture

Feel free to check out the above article, as it’s where I got my information, but I will be summarizing it here.

TL;DR: In order to win the best picture oscar (other categories are not included), the film must have a diverse cast and crew. In effect, this means that the production will need to have members from marginalized groups (which include many different PoC groups, women, and LGBTQ+ people) in different areas of film production (major actors, interns and apprentices, people who work in audience development, and significant crew members) in order to win the best picture oscar.

What do you think of this change? (Good idea? Bad idea? Is it doing enough?)

I think that this is so good!

I think they had the right idea, but unfortunately people will start casting POC for diversity points as white characters with a different skin tone.

They still have to have diverse writers/crew/etc

I feel like it’s worth pointing out that one of their diversity groups is “women” who already tend to have large supporting roles or leading roles in a lot of movies
