Palestine / Israel Incident

The Israel/Palestine conflict has been happening for a bit now. In case anyone needs a summary

Israel and Palestine Conflict

A long long time ago the Jews took over Israel due to the belief God had told them to come and conquer Jerusalem and it would be theirs forever. After a while and some wars the Jews were enslaved and kicked out of their home and persecuted for a very very very long time.

Arabs came and moved into the area even though the Jews tried to come and reclaim their holy land it was a lost cause. Fast forward to WWII and after the Holocaust where Britain who had taken over Palestine was feeling quite sympathetic to the Jews and their idea of Zionism. (The idea that Israel was their sacred land and they must get it back) They gave the Jews half of Palestine and they went there. Everything was great, right?

Uhhhhh not really, see the Arabs that moved in when the Jews were gone now identified as Palestinians were not happy that they were being pushed out of their lands. And the Middle Eastern countries were not pleased with this very large Jewish populations suddenly moving in and taking over some land.

Arab countries team up to get out the invaders but Israel wins that. Then Jerusalem is recognized as the capital of Israel by Donald Trump which in itself is problematic. (Literally stay out of it, let the Middle East resolve it) Instead of helping that Cheeto made it 100x more complicated than to had to be now.

Israel does NOT want to give up their land, they just went toe to toe with a bunch of the Arab World and after not having a designated a country (much of Israel believes the only place where they can be safe is in a Jewish State after many many years of persecution) they are not trying to hand the land over. But the Palestinians are also not trying to lose all their land to the Israelis, especially after being bombed and having their humans rights violated at points. Not to mention they were kinda… like…already there!

Both sides have long historical, religious and political claims over the land. With the West backing up Israel and the Middle East backing up Palestine. I’m not sure about Palestine but Israel is not interested in sharing either.

!!! This summary does not even begin to cover this whole thing. It is a LONG tale that spans a lot of time, including ideologies, history, political relations, etc. etc. As someone said: Spend one hour studying and you’ll root for Israel, Spend a dozen more and you’ll root for Palestine, Spend even more and you won’t know who is in the right or wrong !!!

in my humble opinion both sides have claims over the land and both sides have done wrong to one another however that is not an excuse for the human rights violations or Isreal trying to colonize all of Palestine. I feel like this is a really complicated issue that could be solved if the political leaders did the Two-State solution but they’re not and all the Western influence is making it worse ;-; It’s not the government hating each other like other countries, it’s normal-everyday Palestinans hating the normal-everyday Isrealis and that’s just awful

a bunch of sources from different viewpoints to get the idea of the situaion!

The good news is that things are calming down…sorta.

At least, that’s what I heard. I’m probably wrong.

added some tags!

Isn’t it Israel instead of Isreal, though?

I’ve seen this issue around but I haven’t really gotten the time to look further into it, but I think I heard that there has been some kind of cool down to this controversy? But anyway, I agree that this could’ve been solved through political leaders but people aren’t the leaders so that could be a problem too.

Well
I do try to avoid this topic quite a lot because I really can’t be arsed. But if I’m already tagged I’ll comment because why the hell not

Personally, I live in Israel, I was born here and lived here all my life.
but
It doesn’t mean I fully side with it either.
I think both sides are bloody idiots and this conflict stopped being about the land a long time ago (if they want Jerusalem so much why are they bombing it?) and now it’s just an bruised ego and power war going on and on and on
The world media does do quite a damn lot to show Israel as a full on bad guy, which we really aren’t, but it’s just not shown. And as someone who lives here, I can see reality is very much different than what is shown to the world. ’Israel murders children in cold blood’ etc etc. Pictures of bruised and dead children swarming the internet like there’s no tomorrow, and everyone is ignoring the fact that it was proven that at least half of them are fake. Yes, many children have died in Gaza during this mess, but in the other side, many attacks were stopped due to IDF spotting civilians, mostly women and children.
Neither side is right, there is no I was here this is my land because throughout history both sides were here and just handing the land over and kicking the other side out just makes no damn sense, regardless of who gets it.
As someone who lives in Israel, I feel like I’m automatically assigned the bad guy role by many people around the world regardless of what my opinions are, like I’m obligated to fully support my country no matter what, when I’m reality I really don’t. Yes, I hate that way that even now the Jewish population in the world is less that 15 million (which is about the same as a hundred years ago, where is the growth?), that’s like a damn 2 percent of the population and throughout the years everyone keeps trying to wipe us out, yeah I don’t like that. I hate the way rockets are fired at us and so many people have to live with their loved ones being hurt, PTSD, and the constant fear of being killed or hurt by a rouge terrorist. I hate the way 18 year olds here need to draft into the army to protect their country instead of living their best years like everyone else. I hate the way the whole world hates us like nothing and blames us for being inhuman towards Gaza when in reality we give them medical supplies and a sh!t ton of money and whatnot, because the enemy isn’t the Palestinians, it’s the hamas(terrorist organisation). But at the same time I also hate the way people in Gaza die and have less protection than we do. I hate the way innocent people are controlled by terrorists. I hate the way some children are raised and turned into terrorists at such a young age. I hate the way women and lgbt have no damn rights in Gaza. Palestinian lives do matter, but so do Israeli lives.
Free Palestinian doesn’t have to mean no Israel, if both sides just dropped their damn ego and worked it out, it would have been solved a whole damn long time ago, but the way it’s going, it won’t be solved until one of the sides is wiped out, and I hate that. I wish for peace, all I ever wanted was peace, to walk around without worrying a rocket siren would start going off, to live my life knowing that people in Gaza are also safe just like I am. For fcuks sake I want to be able to live my life without people judging and worrying about me for sort of dating an Arab man, asking me if I’m not scared that if I go to his hometown I’ll get stabbed. I hate the way we both know this relationship has no success potential became of our backgrounds without even having to try and learn. Because that’s reality. Jews and Arabs have a gap, a whole ass gap. Life, media, stories, education, everything teaches us that those are two opposite sides, two sides that can’t ever be in peace because there was just too much that happened throughout the years for either side to forgive.
And the sad thing is, the chances of me being stabbed or having rocks thrown at me in his hometown aren’t that low, and that’s just bloody dumb. Innocent people here are afraid to die, they are raised and taught that Palestine and Arabs in general are the enemy, that they shoot rockets and stab people just for being Jews or Israelis, but the other side is taught the exact same thing but opposite, on how Israel doesn’t give a sh!t and all they want is to wipe out Palestine and build a huge parking lot instead. So where does this go? Where does this end when both sides are wrong? In that case… we’re just screwed.

My opinion is that it’s largely our fault (the U.K.). Palestinian Jews do exist and they coexisted perfectly well with the Muslims and Christians there. Then we went around promising the land to 500 people and then surprise pikachu face when it doesn’t work out.

Of course, I truly believe that the truth is super complicated. Jewish people deserve to have a place where they feel safe and comfortable — especially given what horrific event led to Israel’s formation. Palestinians don’t deserve to be forced out of a place where they’ve set their roots for centuries. I really don’t know what the solution is, but we have almost reached peace before.

I also want to say, though, that Israel is the much stronger, more powerful and more influential of the two, given its relationship with many other global powers. They very frequently go very overboard and act like bullies. After all, they’re picking on a much smaller nation that can’t defend itself. It’s much easier for them to demand peace negotiations than the other way around. It’s a travesty that it’s taken this long

And yes this is not just a religious thing. For Palestinians, it largely started as “woah where are all of these Europeans coming from? Why is Britain favouring them over us for education and job opportunities? Why are they (Britain) turning us into an underclass? Isn’t it enough that we were already occupied by the Ottoman Empire for god knows how long?” For the newly formed Israel, the land is so deeply linked to religion, but also to trauma. I’ve read stories about Holocaust survivors who went back to their homes after being liberated from camps, only to find out that some randoms now live in their family homes. No one ever talks about the fall-out after the War and what happened to the survivors when they tried to rebuild their lives. Where the hell were they supposed to go?

But it’s spiralled out of control since.

With the influential global powers point I’ll have to disagree

Palestine literally has the support of every possible Arab country, plus like majority of the world in general
On diplomatic terms, Israel is pretty screwed tbh

Yeah, that’s not good. Is it true there’s a rocky period of cease fire?
