Pinterest and platforms for buying and selling art have recently been badly affected by AI. There’s a huge influx of AI generated trash that is massively being uploaded to these platforms and two big things are affected by this. One is the fact that whenever you search something the first things you get are AI generated images and you need to filter out those and take some time diving deep to find what you need. The second is the fact all this uploading of AI content is massively slowing down the response time of the websites and personally for me, Pinterest has been painfully slow and I remember how for each scroll I had to wait a second until it loaded and it got worse the more I scrolled down.
That wouldn’t be the reason for leaving had it not been for the AI banning lately. Apparently Pinterest started using an AI for a moderation of the website and suddenly hundreds of users, some of which have never posted anything on the website) were banned or perma-banned. Pinterest is adamant that it wasn’t the fault of the AI and since they’ve been restoring the accounts after being insufferating and headstrong for days and only responding after a massive backlash, I think Pinterest is forever changed for me and I don’t want to rely on a website that is willing to pull this bull which ends up with me losing everything I’ve saved there.
So I’ve started looking for alternatives, and I found an AMAZING website which is relatively new and not a lot of people know about it. It’s amazing, it has a lot of great stuff and refferences already even though it’s not yet as massive as Pinterest, and it has the option to collect photos to different collections AND IT HAS THE OPTION TO MAKE A MOODBOARD RIGHT THERE! You no longer have to download images and use another website/programme such as Photoshop or Canva to put multiple of these images together into one moodboard, you can just save a bunch of images to a board and then move them around in there! How cool is that?
TLDR; Pinterest got really bad, and I got the ick from their responses to the perma-bans, so I searched for another website like it and found ReFern, which proved itself to be a really good resource website!
Refern was made by this redditor,
And this is the website
It’s a bit weird that it’s refern.app but you get used to it pretty soon.
So if you’re looking for a good resource website for a refference website, you can’t go wrong with this one.
