the equator (at least the equatorial line) is farther south
Ecuador, Colombia and Brazil are the american countries “crossed” by the line
(but i may have misunderstood and you meant equator as in the area between the cancer and capricorn tropics (i do not know the name of the area in english kdsbvhf)) in which case, yes, that zone goes from (part of) Mexico to (part of) Chile and Argentina
