Some or most RPs are guaranteed to end, and it is sometimes obvious just from when it was first introduced on the New Ideas Thread. RPs like these tend to have SG elements to move the plot forward; as a result, the participants need to be very active for it.
I haven’t really witnessed a lot of RPs that actually ended or, at least, almost ended, but I recognize AYTO as one of those, if I’m right? I’m also positive that Blue Royalty will end, judging from its plot.
I like RPs that end, though it’s sad to see it doing so because I sometimes get attached to an RP I really like that I don’t care if the plot drives forward or not anymore. RPs that end is really interesting to follow through, because it’s just like reading a story that is co-written by many authors.
So…
Do you know any RPs that ended/end or are ending?
What do you think about them?
If an RP ends, would you like it if there’d be another season or “universe” of it?
It’s like when you’re done reading a book. You know that stomach feeling, when something ends and you get that little bit of closure? I suppose it feels like that. You may close the book and never touch it again, but you still read it. You read one book, finish it, then move on to the next
I think sequels of movies are always cool, though they’re usually worse than the first or aren’t really necessary. If it’s left on a cliff hanger, than yeah, or if it’s an annual thing like a song competition or bachelorette then yeah! But if it’s a one and done RP I don’t think it’s necessary.
Not really
Tbh, I quite like the idea of a long running RP. A never ending RP means introducing new people, saying goodbye to old people, and a never ending cycle of new characters. You’d need a pretty famous RP to do such things though, but it’s an interesting ideal. Basically, FairyTaled. 2 years strong is it? Impressive, kinda intimidating, but impressive.
But then again, with long RPs you need to be constantly thinking of plot twists etc and it’s a lot of stress on the creator. As much as a never ending or long running RP sounds, they have to end at some point. For the creators and RPer’s sakes
I think they’re equally stressful though, but with different things. With a long-running RP, yes you have the point, and with ending RPs, you also need full attention to your RP and you also need to make sure you planned it out
None on the forums, usually RPs die out before they even start.
But I’ve RPed with 1-2 friends in the past and we managed to end the RPs, mainly because it’s a small group and we’re all focused on it.
It’ll be really sad to see an RP end. I hate saying goodbye to characters I’ve played for so long.
Yesss! That sounds like it would be fun.
Actually, now that I think about it, the D&D RP ended but it got a revamp.
Everyone got pretty close to the ending of The Wish Of Amnesia but just as I was about to work towards the end, it died.
The only things they had left to do was find a cave on the island that had a escape boat.
And get into the room of Eliot (which they found the entrance of) to find out about the experiment, their connections to Eliot and their powers.
Blue Royalty just ended, and I still wonder how it will be formally closed it’s the first RP I actually witnessed myself closing. RPs with endings are really interesting to play on because there’s actually a path where the story will go, though this might only apply to a couple of plots?
@RPers, do you prefer RPs with endings or with no endings? Have you joined an RP with one?
