I don’t get either, it does sound weird.
Maybe if you look them into the eyes they might regret it and don’t shoot or something. It will probably have a psychological effect on them.
No clue… To be honest I don’t know if someone would stand there still and look into the eyes of someone who wants to kill them.

If someone’s broken into your house and they’re pointing a gun at you, run straight towards them. (Idk and then knock them over? Like jeez we’re not all that strong )
I guess it kinda makes sense, like most of the time you’d expect someone to stay dead still if you’re pointing a gun at them.
Also who wouldn’t be startled by someone charging at you, looking like you ate their whole fridge
