Lila had walked around the corner after catching her breath to see Owen standing there. She froze as she could see the look on his face… the hurt in his eyes. She kind of wish she had just ran to him and hugged him. However, she came around the corner slowly and saw his face and posture before hugging him. She thought he looked so good in his hoodie and cargo pants. She was thinking about how HOT he was when she realized she was frozen in place due to the look on his face. She heard him exhale sharply and saw him shake his head. This just froze her more. Then he started to speak, her heart at first felt full by what he said “You know, I was gonna surprise you today.” She was shocked “Wait… Really? You did?” She asked. However, what he said next shook her to the core. Then he continued “Had this whole thing planned, just… something for us. But then I see you with him.” Her heart sank when she heard him say it. It took all of her not to cry.
She knew she didn’t technically do anything wrong, but at the same time she knew how bad it must have looked. F^^k… he did see me. I knew it! She thought as she stood there in front of Owen not letting her emotions of hurt show. Owen dry chuckled which caught Lila off guard. She thought he looked so sexy rubbing his jaw. She wasn’t showing she was sad and hurt, but she wasn’t really giddy and happy go lucky like she normally was with him. She wasn’t sure what emotions to show in this moment. She wanted to speak… to say what happened, and why she was with him, but she couldn’t find the words to say since she knew Owen wanted to say more. Then Owen continued “I just need you to be honest with me, Lila.” Again she was about to speak but he kept going “If I messed up, if I waited too long, just… tell me. Because standing there, watching it? It sure didn’t feel like nothing.” Lila waited for Owen to finish talking.
She didn’t want to interrupt him. She slowly stepped closer to him. All she wanted in this moment was for him to hold her in his arms. She took a deep breath and decided to take his hands in hers. She looked up at him and met his eyes as she spoke “Owen, I will always be honest with you.” She said as she went to intertwined their fingers. “Owen, you didn’t mess anything up. Not sure what you mean by waited too long… waited too long for what?” She asked a little confused at what he meant. “Standing where and watching what? If you are talking about the guy with blue hair; John is his name.” She shook her head in disbelief “Owen, I just met John today… That’s first thing. Second, I only met him because I came here to be closer to you. I was thinking about you and how much I missed you… Which by the way… I thought you had left.” She sighed and fought back the tears. “I was watching him play basketball, he reminded me of you. Well then he threw the ball across the court for some reason and it hit me in the head.” She said being honest with him.
“I got a bump and everything on my head still. I almost passed out so he brought me to get help. However, the whole time I hung out with him all I could think about was you… and how much certain things I learned reminded me of you more. Made me miss you more honestly.” Tears started to fall from her eyes. She wasn’t lying about anything. “Lastly, Owen… I thought you left me behind like I meant nothing, which killed me. These last few days… all I did was cry thinking I didn’t mean that much to you. So, forgive me for meeting someone and smiling or laughing because they made me think of you… The first guy I ever kissed. The first guy have ever fall in love with…” Now the tears were just falling from her eyes. The way he talked made her feel he thought she was cheating on him. How could he question her like this over someone she just met. Did it look that bad? Why is he so upset? He was the one who left… As she stood there waiting for his response her mind raced with thoughts.
