I’m debating on taking a break for the rest of the year from school. My grades are suffering due to work and not getting enough rest. I just feel like I’m not into class as much as I should be. I do want to finish the degree but I might need to step away until next January just to get back into it again.
@pensiveshadow @lanafrazer what do you two think?
Take a break.
Okay, I think it’s best if I do.
I have a couple questions
You talked about a degree so your in college or uni, if so may I ask what your trying to get a degree in.
Also you mentioned work do you mean a job if so, is it full-time or part-time and if this isnt too personal where do you work.
You could have meant school work not a job so if so ignore that second part.
I’m going for a graphic’s design degree for modeling and animation. Your good, I’m willing ro talk about that. I work part-time in a bakery at Kroger but my hours range from 34-25 hours but sometimes I get more hours because I run over my scheduled time.
Take a break…
My wifi went out for a couple of hours so my bad! Before taking a break – because that can be a huge step, I would recommend trying to ask you’re employed for fewer hours, it could also be of help to try and set up an organized schedule with times for studying, as well as work, but also enough time to rest and get proper sleep. Even if you slept a total of four hours then took periods of 30-minute naps it can be a big help.
I myself don’t condone taking breaks (for myself, not other people) but if you feel like without taking the year or even a couple semesters off that your health will be affected in a serious way – then do try to take at least a semester or two off. And if would prefer not to take a break try to find an easier part-time job or ask your parents to lend you some money and take a break from working for a month or two.
I will think about that. I sent an email to my advisor to see what he think is best. Thank you for the recommendations though!
I probably will just not sure for how long though. Thank you!
I agree with this, personally. Right down to the working myself to the bone part. I’m pretty bad for that too. 80-hour work weeks are fun!
But yeah, those hours sound insane when you’re also working at a degree, @WolfGamerGirl37 . I would try to cut those down first
Thank you, I will talk to my manager and see what she says. Yeah, it’s bad when you accidently get 40 hours in a week abd you were only scheduled 32 hours that week. I’ve also worked 19 hours without barely any rest in between 2 shifts together. That bumped me up to 48 hours in a week once. I didn’t even realize I did that to myself.
Taking a break from school would be very beneficial. I suggest you do.
Yeah, I’m only taking a break until october. I talk to my advisor today and he was okay with that. I going to try cut my hours at work down and see if that works.
That’s awesome. Yay!
Thank you!
You’re welcome.
Hopefully you get all the rest you need.
I hope so too. Hopefully I can update my stories soon too.
Welcome
Hey, @liyahsdiamond can you close this thread. Since I already made my decision.
