He definitely has instilled some fear, maybe he mistakes the fear they feel for him going more ‘crazy’ than he already did for the fear they have for the actual issue at hand.
Like the people are ‘Oh my god, Akello is stalking around us again. Last time I saw him he was screaming about darkness being around. I think he’s completely lost it. I fear his delusions and PTSD will turn violent.’
And he sees their fear and thinks ‘Finally, look how scared they are. They finally understand about the darkness. Nobody believed, until they saw it for themselves!’

Sorry I meant it as guurl, the way you would say to anybody no matter of gender. Simmilar to how dude can be used for anybody, I sometimes use giiirl in a different tone of voice for everybody
