I once had a character that was also created by a mage who was like Frankenstein’s monster, a mixture of different creatures.

I was thinking creatures who were made to protect another weaker species? But also, to give them knowledge/experience and make sure they’re ready to act from the moment they’re created, they’re given already existing souls (which could conflict with no dark magic?)

It would conflict if it were souls as it would often result in souls being hard to track what their past was like and if they would turn vengeful.
Reincarnation would be a way to go around that

What if they just kept the memories and can see them from a third person perspective? And they have their own consciousness from the energy of the old soul (like recycling)?

That works. Like I said, them being reborn with their past memory would be okay, this because it stays the same person.
In this world, souls can be unpredictable and there is a chance a different soul takes the place of that of the one who is suppose to be there.

Ph this one is more anime, the masks are for castlefest and the white one is for a team mate from Volleybal. His wife is going to a harry potter Christmas party, so he asked if I could do face paint as Hedwig, but I’m working, so I offered to make a mask instead.
