The buzz on bubble tea

i have a funny perspective on this because personally i don’t like boba tea all that much (sorry @ Yin please don’t read this /j)
the texture of the tapioca pearls is too chewy and slimy for me and it weirds me out (mini pearls are a bit better, and so is popping boba) (also i just don’t know how to drink the pearls, my sis (huge fan of boba) and i laugh about how when i drink boba i always finish my drink and leave a ton of pearls at the bottom of the cup
plus even when i ask for my tea to be made without sugar, it’s too sweet and not strong enough for me (Cam you like brewing two bags of tea in one cup of course it’s not strong enough)

that said
i adore boba tea as a concept
it’s such a cool concept, being able to try so many things to mix and match, to personalise a drink that fits one’s tastes
that’s super fun! even if it’s not particularly for me

Yes

I actually prefer the tea without the “bubble” so… I’m personally not a big tapioca fan. I am a fan of the popping bubbles or jellies though!

And favorite flavor would be this rose fruit tea with lychee jelly I get at this one place nearby

I adore those too

hype is deserved imo!

i am kinda allergic to some fruits tho, so popping pearls are usually a no-go! don’t like the feeling, either way. tapioca absolutely SLAPS. i love chewing it sm!! avid gum chewer here <3

These are my favorite.

Last night I tried some for the first time in about a decade  and it was actually really good
I got Assum milk teas but my sister let me try her mocha bubble tea and the bubbles or whatever their called were actually good
Originally, I didn’t like because of the bubbles but ig I like boba now :joy::person_shrugging:

Honestly, every boba shop’s tapioca is different

Depending on how the pearls are made and how the shop cooks them, they can have a different texture

When I’m trying a new boba shop, I definitely decide whether I’d go there again based on their tapioca

Good to know :eyes:
Is there a way to like, tell or ask? Or is just kinda like try and if it’s good it’s good?

Also, what’s the difference between bubble tea and boba?
It is it just a different name for the same thing?

There’s no difference

It’s just different names for the same thing

You just have to try it and see

Sounds good, and one last thing
Is it typically pretty similar or can the taste be super different?

Of the pearls or the whole drink?

Generally the taste is pretty similar

It’s really just the texture that varies from place to place
