The Chain Letter Urban Stories

What are Chain Letters?

A chain letter is a message that attempts to convince the recipient to make a number of copies and pass them on to a certain number of recipients. The “chain” is an exponentially growing pyramid that cannot be sustained indefinitely.

They started off being things people would receive in emails and then when social media grew, people started passing them along through their Private Messages.

Read This Alone Okay! (Its Not That Long) X

Especially The PoemUr Love Life Will Be Well
Read This Alone…
Especially The Poem!
I Mean It!!!
The Poem Is Very True, Unfortunately.

JUZ MAKE SURE YOU READ THE

POEM!!!

CASE 1: Kelly Sedey Had One Wish,
for her boyfriend of three years,
David Marsden, to propose to her.
Then one day when she was out to lunch David proposed!
She accepted, but then had to leave because she had a meeting in 20 min.!!!
When she got to her office, she noticed on her computer she had some e-mail’s.
She checked it, the usual stuff…
from her friends, but then she saw one…one that she had never gotten before.
It was this poem. She simply deleted it without even reading all of it.
BIG MISTAKE! Later that evening, she received a phone call from the police
It was about DAVID! He had been in an accident with an 18 wheeler. He didn’t survive!

CASE 2: Take Katie Robinson She received this poem and being the believer that she was she sent it to a few of her friends but didn’t have enough e-mail addresses to send out the full 10 that you must.
Three days later, Katie went to a masquerade ball.
Later that night when she left to get to her car,she was killed in that spot by a… hit-and-run drunk driver…

CASE 3: Richard S. Willis sent this poem out within 45 minutes of reading it.
Not even 4 hours later walking along the street to his new job interview with a really big company, when he ran into Cynthia Bell,(his secret love for 5 years.) Cynthia came up to him and told him of her passionate crush on him that she had had for 2 years.
Three days later, he proposed to her and they got married.
Cynthia and Richard are still married with three children, happy as ever!

This is the poem:
Around the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone.
And I never see my old friends face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
He knows I like him just as well,
And as in the days when I rang his bell.
And he rang mine but we were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.
‘Tomorrow’ I say! ‘I will call on Tim
Just to show that I’m thinking of him.’
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And distance between us grows and grows.
Around the corner, yet miles away,
‘Here’s a telegram sir,’ ‘Tim died today.’
And that’s what we get and deserve in the end.
Around the corner, a vanished friend.

Remember to always say what you mean
If you love someone, tell them.
Don’t be afraid to express yourself.
Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you.
Because when you decide that it is the right time it might be too late.
Seize the day. Never have regrets.
And most importantly, stay close to your friends and family, for they have helped make you the person that you are today.

YOU MUST SEND THIS ON IN 3 HOURS AFTER READING THE LETTER

Send it to 10 other people. With the title ‘read alone’.
If you do this, you will recieve unbelievably good luck in
love.
The person that you are most attracted to will soon return to you.If you do not, bad luck will rear its ugly head at you.
THIS IS NOT A JOKE!!!
You have read the warnings , seen the cases, and the consequences.
You
MUST send this on or face dreadfully bad luck.

They are my living hell because being told a ghost is gonna come get me if I don’t share something and being too scared to share stuff on social media kept me awake for too many nights :joy:

Ahhh people still do that now as a joke - if you send it to 10 people you’ll pass all your exams

I do remember that being very popular when I was a kid. I’d get so many messages a day but I thought it was stupid

I get so many because some of my internet friends believe in them or are afraid of the “consequences” lmao. They irk me in their purest form.

Some are like stories or flatteries or poems and then at the end they will say:

“Send this to 15 friends that you love (I hope I’m one of them)”

and then some will just go like

“Send this to 15 friends or you will have 7 years of bad luck”

Sometimes they just get too much… worse than years of bad luck.

Yeah like the ones that say they’re gonna come for you in three years time and kill your relatives

I received a lot of chain messages both on my social media and on my contact number before. Most of them are wholesome, though. This one is an example of a harmless chain message I’ve received before.

“Send this to 15 women you love and you will have one wish granted by the end of the week.”

But some of them are just plain stupid. I don’t like those ones saying that ”you will have bad luck if you don’t pass this to 10 people”, or “a ghost will appear beside you tonight if you don’t pass this message to 100 people. I don’t believe in them, but it still annoys me when people send me messages like that :joy:

I also received some funny ones before. This one is a funny chain message that has been going on in our country for almost a decade already :joy:

Translation: Optimus Prime is a brave leader of the Autobots. And now, he’s searching for new recruits. Pass this message to 8 other friends and you’ll become a Transformer yourself. Don’t laugh, one of my friends is a tricycle now!

I don’t pass chain messages because I don’t believe in them. Plus, I’m also an anti-social who doesn’t like initiating conversations, but I really appreciate it when people send me wholesome ones.

If you like this message, your crush will ask you out and you’ll get married by the end of next year
 If you don’t, you’ll have the worst year of your life

I still remember them being a huge thing when I first got Facebook, you literally couldn’t look in a comment section without seeing so many different chain letters.
