The Dragon Prince

I’m actually in love with The Dragon Prince and I can’t wait for the next season!

It’s a Netflix exclusive, so it’s pretty easy to find. The framerate of season 1 wasn’t the best thing in the world, but it’s a great story with adorable characters and some awesome diversity!

Have you seen it? What do you think?

I haven’t seen it but it’s on my to-watch list. It’s the first thing i am going to watch when dad gets a Netflix subscription since the last ones over. :sob:

At the start, we’re introduced to a world where humans and magical creatures are at war. The king of one of the human tribes stole the Dragon Queen and King’s egg and said he destroyed it. The war went silent for a while, but in the present, an elf called Rayla is part of a small group sent to sneak into human land and kill the king and the heir to the throne.

Then we cut to Callum, the king’s stepson, and his little half-brother and heir to the throne, Ezran. They’re arguing because they find out that their father needs them to leave the palace and hide in the winter home. Ezran, who’s really cheeky and adventurous, runs off somewhere and Callum is faced with assassin Rayla, who asks him who Prince Ezran is. He says it’s him and runs off.

In the end, Rayla, Ezran and Callum end up in an unknown part of the palace and stumble on the Dragon egg that was supposed to be stolen. She tries to appeal to the elves to stop this and the princes become set on bringing the egg back to the Dragon Queen (the king’s dead). Their father dies and his best friend, who becomes a de-facto ruler when they run off, is set on continuing the war with the magical races.

In order to do that, he needs to kill Ezran because everyone wants to mourn the loss of the king before they go to war. They also want to find out where Ezran is, saying that the friend has no right to rule on his behalf. So he decides to say that both of the princes are dead (and send his son to kill them). Rayla finds out that the pact she joined when she became an assassin means that the band on her hand will get tighter and tighter until she kills Ezran. So they go off together, the three of them, to find the Dragon Queen and return the egg to her – with Rayla secretly knowing that the princes’ father died (she had two bands on her arms but the one for the king fell off) and that she’ll lose her hand if she doesn’t kill the new young king.

I’m definitely going to do a blog post about the diversity in the Dragon Prince. It’s amazing! A deaf lady warrior, lesbian queens, a black king, a half black half (I’m pretty sure) Asian prince. Even the act that Callum’s mum had him before she married the king! It’s all so cool and interesting!

And how naturally they pull it off.

Like, ‘yeah they’re black. She’s deaf. They’re gay. We didn’t feel the need to make a big deal shrugs

I like that

What was her weapon?

It’s a high fantasy story by the person who wrote Avatar. Absolutely amazing!
