I thought it was annoying but you made a good point there. If I was told to pick a song between Havana/Senorita or I’m A Cow, I’d go for the Cow song.

And it’s not just the industry too. We have these male rappers acknowledging how good are some of the female rappers yet their fans hate female rappers… trashy behavior.

So I like rap, the same way I like any other type of music? If I hear a song I like I’m like. “Hey! That’s pretty good” 
Same with hip-hop, though I knew some people in my music class who really liked hip-hop. I leaned more towards the older black cultural music types myself I’m really partial to jazz and swing (Which, of course, is how hip-hop and rap came about 
)
What I can say is that the sexism in the rap industry is pretty ridiculous. Like, it’s true of any music industry that for a woman to be successful she kinda needs to be good looking and at least somewhat sexualised? But they take it to the next level in the rap industry. Which goes into a whole racist place I’m not fully prepared to dive into right now.
What I can also say, is that rap definitely doesn’t lead to violent behaviour. This was a hot topic a little while ago. Violent music leading the violence in teens. It really doesn’t, there are countless studies on the subject and they all point to the same thing. The music has very little, if any bearing.

Yeah the rap industry is a bit of mess. The sexism and colourism is so blatant also cultural appropriation is a big deal too.

- Lil’ Kim is also the nominee for the “I am Hip-Hop Award” from BET
- Nicki Minaj has collabed on two songs - “Fendi” and “IPhone”
- Cardi B featured on a song (can’t remember the name whoops)

- Doja Cat dropped a song + video - has Gwen Stefani, Avril Lavigne vibes
