Her additional statements don’t clarify anything imo:

  1. You can’t talk about misogyny whilst ignoring the intersectionality. Lana is right that all women go through struggles in the music industry but this goes hand in hand with the other forms of discrimination which in this case is antiblackness. Lana’s experience is not comparable to her peers that have gone through what she has and more because they are woc.
  2. “Opportunities” “Same freedom of expression”??? Again, these women weren’t “allowed” to be explicit they fought and worked hard to do so. Again, who was stopping her? She should have just kept it in her genre because I can see how the Billie Eilishes, Melanie Martinezes, the Lordes, the Halseys etc benefited from Lana breaking down barriers but were these the same barriers for the Beyonces and Nickis? No.
  3. Regardless as to whether these are her favourite singers are not they aren’t the same genre as her and still had the same struggles in the music industry she had if not worse.
  4. “Delicate personality” and women that don’t look like they’re in control. So the submissive and desirable woman that’s already the standard? That’s already catered to and promoted? That’s always been catered to in feminism? That’s the reason why all these supposedly stronger women that got those #1s exist in the first place to combat the stereotype? The personality that some of those women weren’t allowed to have? That you’re implying that some of these women aren’t?
Doja's response

Doja being Doja

And Megan Fox’s response which was very well written:

She sounds entitled. The artists she listed, especially Doja, Nicki and Beyonce have covered the same subject matter she has and have made sexual songs. There’s this thing where alternative pop somehow has more “value” than other genres and I don’t like it.

Lana needs to chill out for real. Yes, women struggle a lot in the industry, but WOC have faced/been through way more than someone like Lana. I get her point, but some of the things she said weren’t ok at all. She’s a white woman, she wouldn’t get it, and for her to do this makes her look ignorant.

And she's still not done folks!

She unfollowed Ariana Grande:

There were also screenshots of her apparently fighting her own fans in a gc but I’m seeing people say they’re fake so I won’t post them :skull:

I think she’s dug herself an even deeper hole because this response is very ignorant. 3rd wave feminism already happened…? As for the ““race war”” she mentioned, the main issue was her saying Nicki and Beyonce were getting away with sexual lyrics when in reality they’ve been targets of misogynoir throughout their careers. This 1950s delicate housewife archetype she’s claiming is being dismissed has been promoted and gassed up for the longest so I have no idea where she’s going with this. And she didn’t seem very “delicate” when she threatened to beat up Azealia :skull:

I’m wondering what it was that Ariana said to her too. Overall Lana is being so immature about this by doubling down and accusing people who disagreed with her as drama seeking instead of realising that her examples don’t support her argument.

And now for Doja… lord…

TL;DR - She was hanging out with some alt right incel dudes on Tiny chat, made a song called Dindu Nuffin which is an alt right slur and uses the f slur after apologising for saying it.

Right off the bat I’m glossing over the sampling thing because I really don’t think we should be putting song sampling with the actual messy stuff so theres that.

I think this is very disappointing, especially just after her and 3 other black women reaching the top of Billboard. Doja always had a very gen-z-LOL-random-humour thing going on but I never knew it was to this extent. I don’t think her being pan justifies using the f slur especially after she apologised for it.

I’m seeing some interpretations say that Doja being mixed and not having the support of her dad (South African actor that left her when she was very young - Doja admitted to having never met him in person but he still commented on her IG and claims everything is ok between them) relates to this. I can see how this relates to her in terms of her understanding her blackness but at the same time she is a grown woman and is responsible for her own actions. She needs to explain herself and definitely explain the meaning of that song…

In relation to Lana and Doja I don’t think they will be cancelled. Most people are memeing and calling them out which isn’t the same as trying to end their careers. The music industry has shown it isn’t based on morals. Both girls have strong fanbases that will probably continue to support them after this.

Cancelling doesn’t do anything. They hate on the person for a week then go back to liking/stanning them again.

And Lana is dragging it now. Pipe down sis.

When was this? :eyes: Did Azealia say anything about the issue?

Facts

I’m currently having a debate with someone on Twitter over Lana being a racist. I may have exaggerated for jokes (and it’s weird how they decided to focus on that ONE part of my tweet) but she (Lana) was lowkey being ignorant…

She sorta is considering the fact she decided to speak up when BLACK WOMEN were topping the charts.

Del Ray’s made ANOTHER response in a corny vintage filter and Doja’s made a statement. Thoughts?
