After Lura’s reply, a long awkward silence followed. After a while, she looked away from the girl, nervously scanning her surroundings to find something to talk about. Luckily, the elf standing in front of her broke the silence. “Mmm, I guess there is people who do that, but I not." - she stated. Lura nodded, but then stayed silent, knowing what to add to that. She had been living on a farm her entire life, so seeing animals free wasn’t a very common sight.

The elf then started rambling about her appreciation for animals, seemingly very enthusiastic about the topic. Lura smiled, it was nice seeing someone so passionate about something. Although Lura’s farm animals didn’t exactly have the freedom, she still loved and cared for them like her friends. She has always seen animals as interesting, so the elf’s views weren’t so far off from hers.

The girl then cleared her throat, cutting the previous conversation short. “Anyways… You already met Hector, and my name is Faevyre” - the elf stated. Lura reached out her hand “Nice to meet you Faevyre! I’m Lura.” - she smiled. After a short pause, Lura continued “…I know this question might sound odd, but what’s the name of this town?”

“Let’s just hope we don’t all die in the process.” The bartender kept trusting this person less and less as they kept talking. They seemed far too interested in bad stuff happening and had no sympathy for the issues happening in the town. Adventurers contained a lot of unsavory sorts, though, so the bartender figured it was best to just hope that they would leave quickly. “You can get a room and a meal with that.” The bartender walked over to a barrel and made a mug of ale. “The food will just be a minute.” He bent over and grabbed a key from a keyring that he then handed to Arianise. “Up the stairs over there, and it should be the first one on the left.”

“Lura? That’s a beautiful name”, I said smiling, then I looked at her extended hand. I looked confused and I didn’t understand why she reached her hand like this, so I just stared at it silently. Maybe that’s how people greet each other? - I thought to myself and reached my hand in the same way she did next to her hand (without shaking or touching it).

After a short pause, Lura asked me if I know name of the town. I shaked my head, “No I don’t. Do towns even have names?”, I asked surprised, then looked around trying to find anything that might suggest the name of the town. “Well now that you mentioned that, it does actually makes sense when I think about it. I had met some people in the past and they did said, ‘I’m from the town of that and that’, but I just tought it was just how they called it”, I explained to her. “It’s my first time visiting any town… So I might now know a lot of things most people do”, I added slightly ashamed.

While Quarion was busy talking to Nyx, he noticed a familiar face approach him. A person he hasn’t seen it what felt like years. Arnold. Although the man has been walking alongside Quarion the entire trip, he was too stuck in his own head to notice he’d been there. As expected, Arnold ended up rambling about teamwork and putting aside differences, which Quarion found incredibly boring. He rolled his eyes, skipping straight to answering Arnold’s question: “Are you still mad at me for almost getting you guys killed?”

“Not particularly, though it would’ve been nice if some of you weren’t kidnapped by cultists! Where were you the entire trip!?”

But then, the conversation was cut short by Silnum. It seemed Quarion’s assumptions about the newcomer were correct. Though he wasn’t alone, it seemed he had some elf accompany him. Silnum picked him up in a hug, making Quarion a bit uneasy. Once he was put down, he took a few steps back from Arnold and Silnum, giving himself time to process the situation. Now two new people have arrived, which was a bit suspicious. "Quarion!!! It’s been… I don’t know, many many days since I saw you! You looking well yourself!!”

“Oh… Thanks, I suppose? Where did you even come from!?” Quarion questioned, suspicious of Silnum now. But then, Nyx came in interrupting the conversation, bombarding the two newcomers with questions. He rolled his eyes, stepping further back from all 3 of them. Perhaps going on a second quest with these people wasn’t such a good idea, especially with Nyx around now.

“Oh, thank you! I like yours too!” she replied with a smile. When Lura reached out her hand, Faevyre seemed to be confused. Perhaps she wasn’t used to handshakes? Feeling a bit awkward, Lura pulled back her arm, staying silent for a bit.

But luckily, this pause didn’t last very long. Faevyre seemed just as confused as Lura regarding the town’s name. Though as it appears, she was also confused about towns having names. This sparked Lura’s curiousity, making her wonder from exactly where Faevyre comes from.

“It’s my first time visiting any town… So I might now know a lot of things most people do”. - explained Faevyre. Lura nodded, smiling. “Oh, that’s interesting! Where do you come from?” Lura questioned. Personally, she’s never met anyone who doesn’t know towns have names.

“Not particularly, though it would’ve been nice if some of you weren’t kidnapped by cultists! Where were you the entire trip!?”
“PEOPLE WERE KIDNAPPED BY CULTISTS? Also, I WAS RIGHT ABOUT THE CULTISTS?” I probably should have been a little more invested in the safety and well being of our party. I was one of the few healers after all. But Mord and I really wanted some hot chocolate. And forests are scary.
The very important conversation, however, was cut short by none other than Silnum! Accompanied by another person. Silnum really only addressed Quarion, which was fair, but still. So I took the opportunity to hold out my hand for a friendly handshake with the person next to him. “Good morrow! Arnold Berhart, at your service. You would be?”
Nyx, the little redhead who wanted us to go on this quest, started talking to Silnum and the new girl. Which somewhat made me feel left out. I still had Mord. Who was still behind me. And who Quarion still ignored.

Northwood was a pretty town, but for Therai, it was only a brief stop on his adventures. There was something charming about it though, and he’d already stayed there a couple of days longer than he had initially been planning to. That also had to do with the fact that he hadn’t found another quest to partake on. The last one had kept him on the road for several months though, so it was nice to have the days off to rest.

He had spent the early parts of the day playing his flute out on the street, getting a little money from some people who were kind enough to drop some coins into the case of his flute he’d left open. It wasn’t much, but he appreciated every little generosity spared his way. He didn’t have much to rely on these days, so the random acts of kindnesses were always well received from him.

Therai headed back to the inn, the gently used flute he’d managed to buy with his earnings from adventures past tucked safely into the black case he carried in his hand as he walked. He pushed open the door, moving through the rooms as he approached the bar, where a bartender and another lady were. She was a tiefling, like him, he noted.

As he got closer, he noticed that both of them were watching him come up to the bar. His eyes flicked between the two of them, amusement glinting in his eyes. Therai could feel tension in the air, but he had no idea what had caused it, and frankly didn’t particularly want to know either. “Hey,” he nodded to the woman, sliding into a seat at the counter. “How’s it going? You a local here?”

He passed a coin to the bartender, asking for a bottle of water.

If towns has names, does it means that forests has names too?, - I asked myself in the head and paused a little bit to think about that. After some more time of awkward silence, I realised that Lura asked me a question, so I turned my attention back at her.

“Hmm? Oh yes, sorry! I came from the forest not very far from here”, I said slightly smiling at her. “I spend all my life living there. I wanted to explore and learn more about the world, so I and Hector decided to travel around”, - I explained to her and gently petted Hector who was still on my shoulder. “And that’s how we ended up here”, I added.

“What about you?”, I asked focusing my attention back at the girl. “Since you don’t know the town’s name… I assume you are not from around here either, right?”, - I added curiously. “What are you doing here?”

I was honestly surprised that the bartender agreed to give me a meal and room. I was for sure thinking that he will kick me out or something like that, well at least he would have tried to. He handed me a mug of ale and the key of one of the rooms, I pocketed the key and took the mug. I took a sip of my ale when the person who was approaching finally reached the bar.

As he was right in front of me, I realized that he was also a tiefling, like me. Drinking water in the tavern? hmm, interesting choice, - I thought to myself as he was ordering his drink. Eventually, he noticed me and started a conversation. “Hey”, - I greeted him back and took another sip of the ale, “Could be better. And no I’m not, just passing by”, I answered his questions. “Might stick around for a day or few and then who knows”, I added with a shrug.

“Uh- uh… Yes I am. I… I came to visit my family.”

The girl stammered over her words, almost startled by Loravyre’s sudden appearance. Perhaps she might have been too forward. Intrigued, she observed as the girl’s bright pale green eyes innocently shifted across the room and locked onto Loravyre’s gaze. The girl’s cheeks had begun to flush as she cleared her throat and blurted a few more words.

”How about you? Are you a local here”

She seemed to be a little on the timid side, though she did seem to want to engage in conversation. There was a faint pure aura that surrounded her… as if her presence could alleviate the darkest motivations.

“Who are you visiting?”

Family. There was never a point in time when Loravyre felt a strong sense of family. A hint of envy was slowly pulsating through her veins as her eyes narrowed slightly.

“I’m here on my own as well. Just stopping by and seeing what I can find, I guess.”

A grin slowly began to curl against her lips as Loravyre stated the most obvious question. What she meant to ask earlier was whether the girl had already found a dance partner.

“Well, why aren’t you dancing? This is the dance hall, is it not?”

Faevyre was a bit distracted, she didn’t seem notice Lura asking a question. An awkward silence followed yet again. After a while, the elf noticed Lura asking her a question, replying shortly after. “Hmm? Oh yes, sorry! I came from the forest not very far from here” - she replied. Then, she began to explain how she and Hector ended up here.

“Oh, that’s so interesting!” replied Lura. “I’m from a forest too! Well, forest village. If I may ask, which forest do you come from?” she asked, curious.

“And as for me, I’m here to visit the summer festival. I heard it’s a lot of fun.” she explained. “I’ve spend most of my life in a forest too, actually…” she paused, frowning slightly. The memories flashed through her mind, making her feel a bit uneasy. Noticing Faevyre in front of her, she quickly shook her head and looked back at her, faking a smile.

“PEOPLE WERE KIDNAPPED BY CULTISTS? Also, I WAS RIGHT ABOUT THE CULTISTS?” Arnold exclaimed. Quarion rolled his eyes, “Yes. That is literally what I just told you. And yes, you were correct about the cultists.” he replied, a bit annoyed at the fact that Arnold was right. “But you didn’t even bother helping, so it doesn’t count!” he remarked, trying to save his ego.

However, the conversation was interrupted by Silnum. Arnold seemed to focus his attention to the new elf girl now, extending his hand to introduce himself. Quarion didn’t really care about meeting her. A dog standing next to Arnold caught his attention. I swear he’s blind at this point, because the dog was following Arnold the entire time. Quarion immediately recognized that the dog is Mord, kneeling down to pet him.

“Well, why aren’t you dancing? This is the dance hall, is it not?”

The girl asked it a hypocritical tone. Minnie noticed the girl wasn’t dancing at all either.

“Oh… yeah I should really do that, shouldn’t I? Sorry, I just got here and was totally shaken up because I wanted to make sure no one stole from me again. Everyone warned me to be careful of thieves in these parts, but here I am almost asking for people to steal from me.”

Minnie started at her knapsack, which she had forgotten to close and was just on the bench almost asking to be taken.

This mysterious elf girl followed her gaze, then picked up the bag, closed it, then handed it back to her.

“I think you were wanting this?”

Minnie looked into the girls eyes, then smiled. She regained her confidence she had just lost and composed herself enough to talk without stuttering.

“Thank you. Anyways, would you like to dance with me?”

Perhaps it was odd to be drinking water at a tavern, but he just wasn’t really in an alcohol mood. It probably had to do with spending the first half of the day out in the sun as well as the lingering effects of growing up in such an anti-alcohol environment (you can take the boy out of the monastery but you can’t take the monastery out of the boy). Whatever’s the reason, he didn’t regret the choice as he took several sips of the water bottle that the bartender passed him. There was something about water that was just inherently calming. The world could literally be falling apart, but having that swing of cold water would just make him feel at least a little better. Maybe he was being a tad dramatic, but water just truly was a gift from the gods. Take away the whole essential to life thing, and you still had a liquid with so many useful properties. People not liking water was beyond him and honestly—

Oh. She was talking. Which was to be expected, since he had, in fact, just asked her a few questions. But then he’d gotten lost in his thoughts of water (what a beautiful substance) and almost totally tuned her out. Therai turned his head slightly her way, catching the last bit of what she was saying. He waited a moment before replying, and the gist of the earlier words she had been saying registered in his mind.

She said that she could be better or something similar, and, of course, the suggestion that popped up in his mind was that perhaps she needed water too. He didn’t say that, obviously—he didn’t want it to sound like he thought of her as an alcoholic. He didn’t know her so he couldn’t make those conclusions yet. It seemed to him like she was an adventurer too, or maybe she was just a gypsy or homeless wanderer. He was curious now. “Are you a nomad or one of those drifter types, always on the move?” He nodded, his gaze moving back in front of him as he took another sip of water. “I don’t set roots down either. Sometimes I miss having a home but I do like getting to see different parts of the world.” A smile curled the corners of his lips. “And this town is a pretty one, quite charming for a rest stop.”

Silnum’s hands slowly goes down as his grasp soften from beyond the waist of Quarion, the somewhat confused and suspicious face so familiar to his expression was seen. It seemed as if he was processing something, possibly the emotion of suprise of something. Possibly confusion or curiosity, Silnum wonders. As Silnum was about to ask a question, the voice came out of Quarion’s lips, asking, “Oh… Thanks, I suppose? Where did you even come from!?”

Silnum chuckles, “Magic~~ There is a thing called feet, and its purpose is to change locations. But it is a coincidence you’re here!! I haven’t seen you since… I forgot how many days… Oh well!!” Silnum laughs once more, he then sees a small gnome walking near them and reached out their hand, signaling a handshake. Giving the gnome a handshake, both Silnum and Analtheae looked at them as they both introduced to Nyx. “Well, I’m Silnum! And yes, I have lots and lots of story to tell, but of course it’d be more fun if I tell you on the adventure!!! But of course… if your family needs you, I’m afraid they want you in one piece and that would mean lots and lots of training!”

Silnum gives a big smile to Nyx as Silnum goes back to both Arnold and Quarion, giving them both a pat on the shoulder, “So, was I late in the drinks? Eh? Eh! Doesn’t matter, I need five ounces of beer and I want you both to join me!!”

Stepping back from both Silnum and Quarion, she spectated both of them with subtle pleasure as she peacefully enjoys the warming environment as the tension from last time was calming down. But her calming feeling did come to an end as she felt a certain touch of her hand, alerting her dozy state into something more alarmed. Although, a friendly man to begin with the introduction, the suprise taken with the handshake gave her a bit of a shock, “Gah!” letting out an awkward voice out from her delicate lips. She returned to her calming state, and swiftly but politely swoops off her hand from the handshake, looking at her hands for an signs of disturbance to something on her hands.

With the impression quite not expected from her, she then saw a small feiry red-haired gnome running as they asked numerous questions. Looking at both Nyx and Arnold, she lightly curtsied as her soft-spoken voice was now letting out from the touch of her lips, “Analtheae Bedeatrynn, a noble preistess from both respectable temples in my original and chosen hometown. From the Bedeatrynn clan, I reside as nothing but only to help others for the sake of my great family name. But I thank thee, for no one has told me that I was that powerful.” Analtheae begins to lightly chuckle as Nyx frantically bounces like a child unsupervised, “But I am afraid I could only tell you my powers, as showing off is deemed improper for a noble priestess nor is it substantial to show my powers in such a dormant stae of this inn. But to be quick, I weild the magic of nature given by the godess of nature I serve until the end of my life.”

After happily reuniting with Silnum and meeting Anatheae, the party (consisting of Arnold, Quarion, and Kathelia) all talked to Nyx about what they were asking. Despite them being a bit tired from their last adventure, they all agreed to leave Fogforest and travel with Nyx to Northwood. They were filled in slightly on what was happening and what theyd need to do. Nyx just wanted some harmony to be restored to their town, which would mean somehow mending the rift between the other towns. Nyx wasnt sure how they should try to fix this, but they were sure something should be done. Perhaps most importantly, Nyx was willing to help out with your attempts to assist the town.

You all agree to help out and head off to Northwood. The walk isnt particularly long, but its also not particularly interesting. You pass a whole bunch of loggers walking into town through the woods, but once youre out of forested area, the path becomes a lot clearer and seeing people traversing the path becomes more uncommon. After walking for around half a day, its evening when you make it into Northwood. Nyx asks for everyone to meet at the Farmers Market in the morning and returns to their house. Its not necessarily late enough for everyone to sleep, so why not explore around town for a while?

My eyes widen in surprise when Lura mentioned that she grew up in forest village. “Really that’s so cool”, I said excited. I grew up alone and it was sometimes lonely and hard, so she must be lucky to have the whole village. “I don’t know the name. I grew up alone only surrounded by animals, and it’s not that they knew either… Though I never asked”, I explained and chuckled a little bit. “It’s not far from here”, I said and pointed towards the direction I came from. “It took us about half a day to get there”, I added.

“What is a summer festival?”, I asked curiously. She said it sounded fun, so maybe it will be something I will be interested too. Lura started to talk about her time in forest, but stopped for some reason. I didn’t understood what that was about, but decided not to question that, and just smiled back at her.

The guy was lost in his thoughts for a while, eventually he realized that I’m still here so he started talking again. I shrugged at his question about me being nomad or something lik that. “I guess you can say so… I am traveling from place to place, killing monsters, and learning magic trying to become more powerful”, I explained to him and took another sip.

“I guess I miss my home sometimes too…”, I said and got lost in my thoughts for a while, then I realized that he is still here and returned my focus back on him. “But it was destroyed, so I couldn’t go back even if I wanted to”, I added.

“Yeah? Whatever, all towns are pretty much the same to me”, I simply said and took another sip of my ale.
