Weird Facts Show #1

Welcome to the first weird facts show. So first i am doing The Matrix requested by @firefly Although i never watched this movie, i did some search so here I have the facts.

1

1. The Wachowskis risked the film’s entire budget just to make it the way they wanted.
The original budget that the Wachowskis pitched Warner Bros. was over $80 million. Warner gave them $10 million, so they used all of it on the opening sequence with Trinity. The opening scene impressed executives at Warner so much when they showed it, they green-lit the original budget.

2

2. Keanu actually climbed out the window without a stuntman.
During the phone conversation between Neo and Morpheus within the MetaCortex offices, Morpheus instructs Neo to go through the window. Keanu did this himself without the aid of a stunt double, 34 stories in the air.

3

3. The helicopter scene almost caused the film to be shut down.
They flew the chopper through restricted airspace in Sydney, Australia. Laws in New South Wales had to be changed in order to let The Matrix proceed with filming.

4

4. Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity) twisted her ankle during filming, but kept it a secret.
She was afraid that if she told someone, they would re-cast her, so she kept it hidden.

5

5. Other actors considered to play Neo were Nicolas Cage, Tom Cruise, and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Thankfully, Keanu won out. He’s really the only Neo we can imagine. #canttouchthis

6

6. The opening sequence took six months of training to prepare for and four days to shoot.

7

7. The filmmakers color-coded the movie.
Every scene that takes place within the computer world of the Matrix was given a green tint, while all the scenes that take place within the real world have a blue tint. In fact, the only time the color green appears in the real world-set scenes is in the Matrix code on the ship’s computer screen.

8

8. Neo and Trinity’s three-minute lobby shootout took 10 days to shoot.
No CGI was used—all of the explosions and gunfire were practical effects.

9

9. Hugo Weaving had to undergo hip surgery after being injured during fight training.
This completely shifted the shooting schedule, and Weaving’s fight scenes were completed at the end of the production in order to allow time for him to heal.

10

10. The iconic “Bullet Time” effect was conceived and created specially for The Matrix.
The famous swirling shot of Neo’s gravity-defying backbend was made using a rig that contained 120 individual digital still cameras and two film cameras. The still images were carefully stitched together to create the shot frame by frame. The first test shot of the Bullet Time effect gave a nearly 360-degree view of an exploding trash can.

These were the facts of The Matrix. If you liked it, reply below what other movie/series’s facts you want to see next.

Until next time.

Ahh, that one was so good.

I’m impressed. I got dizzy even with looking at that camera angle!

Wow, that’s huge!

Trinity wouldn’t be Trinity without her.

Yes, he’s The One (get it, fellow Matrix fans) and only Neo for me.

Actually not that surprising, the scene was great.

Wow, that’s incredible! So masterful! I could swear I did notice a slight difference, but thought it was just because I knew for sure.

Whaaaaa-

Oh, no, that’s sad.

I- that’s freaking marvelous! I thought it was impossible, but I love it even more now!

How about Murder Mystery? I watched it recently and it was really funny, for me at least.

Weird Facts Show #2

Welcome to the Weird Fact Show. This time i brought you Murder Mystery requested by @firefly . It was kinda difficult to find some weird facts for this one, there wasn’t anything on the internet :woman_shrugging:

1

It is not trying to be good
Murder Mystery seemed so formulaic to begin with, that my heart sank. Then quickly you realise. They don’t care! They want to be formulaic! Sandler is the cliche of a shlubby cop, Aniston the cliche of his hairdresser wife, and together they go on holiday to the general idea of Europe. There is murder mystery. Let’s just call it Murder Mystery. Relax, everybody.

2

They are watching with us
Most of the film is just banter between Aniston and Sandler, which reminded me of people watching TV. As they watch the Eurotrash of Monaco, or wherever, they commentate on what they see, like we do at home. More than anything else, Murder Mystery feels like Gogglebox: The Movie.

3

Entrance music
There is nothing wry about this movie. In total, it works on one level. Still, it is fun to raid the ham cupboard of old film for touches like the sinister theme that plays when a suspicious character appears. If you fondly remember Clue from 1985, then you will love this.

These were the facts for Murder Mystery, if you liked it, rply below what other movie/series you want to see next.

Until next time.

Weird Facts Show #3

Welcome to the Weird Facts Show. Based on the poll results, i’m doing, the beloved Stranger Things! The other movie/shows that were voted will be next. Let’s see…

1

1.The show is based on a real time travel project.
There aren’t any transdimensional horror-beasts rampaging through quiet suburban towns (that we know of), but Stranger Things is based on real conspiracy theories about the United States government conducting reality-bending experiments on children. Specifically, the Montauk Project, which has been referenced in other fiction from Lost to Thomas Pynchon’s novel Bleeding Edge . Much of what Eleven experiences in the laboratory corresponds to the alleged events of the Montauk Project. The show was also initially called Montauk and set on the far edge of the Long Island peninsula. (Montauk was also the inspiration for the town in Jaws , another story of a monster menacing a small community, and one of many Spielberg movies that inspired Stranger Things .)

2

2. They auditioned 906 boys and 307 girls for the main roles.
The Duffer brothers and casting director Carmen Cuba undertook the gargantuan task of hearing from 1213 child actors to get the right people for what would be crucial roles. They had them read scenes from the pilot episode as well as scenes from Stand By Me . You can tell from the ratio that they extended the net widest to find Eleven, and, despite a sea of child actors at their disposal, they cast Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin immediately. Smart move.

3

3. Stephen King had a hand in casting Millie Bobby Brown.
When you’re going up against that kind of competition for a role, it helps to have someone influential in your corner. Millie Bobby Brown had a heavyweight. The master of horror saw Brown in the BBC show Intruders and publicly praised her work on Twitter, giving her a leg up in the race to become a stranger thing.

4

4. The Duffer brothers pulled a mobrid prank on Noah Schanpp’s mother.
Noah Schnapp plays Will Byers, whose disappearance sets the entire show into motion and whose fake dead body covers up the government’s secret project (for about five minutes). The show ordered a prop body from Fractured FX, and when it arrived, they used it to freak out Schnapp’s mom. “We immediately took Noah’s mom aside, told her we had something to show her, and led her into a dark closet where we had propped up this frighteningly realistic corpse of her son,” the Duffer brothers said. “After the initial shock, she loved it.” Schnapp’s mom posed for pictures with the fake corpse, which she then texted to her friends

5

5. Bob almost had a very different fate.
Sean Astin’s lovable lunk Bob Newby gave the second season a puzzle master and a Boy Scout’s moral compass, but the character evolved in a lot of ways since his creation. At first, the Duffer brothers weren’t sure they wanted Astin for the role because, while he’s a living nod to The Goonies , he might have stood out as being too famous as a geek icon. Then they planned to kill him off early on, but Astin and the character were too good. What’s really surprising though is the way they intended to dispose of him: Will was supposed to murder Bob.

Evil Will was supposed to show up far earlier in the season and end the man dating his mom. Fortunately, the plan was scrapped and Astin convinced the Duffer brothers to give him a Jaws -like, gruesome death. You died a hero, Bob!

6

6. The show was almost an anthology series with different characters and settings every season.
The Stranger Things that we know almost didn’t come to be. The Duffer brothers meant for it to kick off with a monster-centric flash of 1980s nostalgia, but then they wanted it to tell new eerie tales and progress through the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and then 2020 in a final season that would air in 2020. The show would have said goodbye to Eleven, Dustin, Will, Mike, Lucas, and the rest of the cast after the first season. Luckily, they realized how special the team they’d assembled was and chose to keep focusing on their original story.

7

7. The show was rejected more than 15 times.
Before finally landing at Netflix, Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer had their show rejected by seemingly every network on earth. In a 2016 interview with Rolling Stone, the brothers estimated that the show was rejected anywhere from 15 to 20 times by various networks. As they explain it, the chief reason why nobody wanted to touch Stranger Things is that network executives couldn’t wrap their minds around the idea of a show that featured kids as leads, but wasn’t actually a children’s show.

The Duffers were essentially told that they’d have to choose one or the other:

“You either gotta make it into a kids show or make it about this Hopper [detective] character investigating paranormal activity around town,” one [network executive] told them. Matt recalls replying, “Then we lose everything interesting about the show.”

Considering how successful the show has been for Netflix, we’re sure there are more than a few executives out there who are kicking themselves for not picking up Stranger Things when they had the chance!

8

8. The upside down has a ton of backstory.
The netherworld realm known as the “Upside Down” is the beating dark heart at the center of Stranger Things and according to Ross Duffer, there’s a ton of backstory behind it. In an interview with Variety, Duffer revealed that there’s an intricate 30-page document about the Upside Down, detailing “what it all means, where this monster actually came from, and why aren’t there more monsters.” The brothers plan to explore the Upside Down’s history more in later seasons of the show.

These were the facts for Stranger Things, if you liked it, stay tuned for the next…

Until next time.

Welcome to another Weird Facts Show. Based on the poll results, today we have the all-time iconic movie Star Wars. Let’s see…

1

1. Yoda was almost played by a monkey.
According to the book The Making of Star Wars by J.W. Rinzler, George Lucas originally planned for Yoda to be played by an adorable monkey wearing a mask and carrying a cane.

2

2. Return of the Jedi almost had a very different ending.
In a story development session for Return of the Jedi , George Lucas toyed with the idea that after Luke removes dying Vader’s helmet, he puts it on, proclaims “Now I am Vader” and turns to the dark side.

3

3.'N Sync nearly had a cameo in Attack of the Clones.
Boy band ‘N Sync made a cameo in Attack of the Clones at the request of George Lucas’ daughter. They were edited out of the final cut. Bye, bye, bye, Justin Timberlake.

4

4. Darth Vader is banned from all official Star Wars events.
David Prowse, the actor who portrayed Darth Vader (in form, not voice), is banned from attending official Star Wars conventions because George Lucas finds him annoying.

5

5. The lightsaber noise comes from the familiar hum of an old television.
The noise a lightsaber makes is created by combining the hum of an old television’s picture tube and the buzz of a film projector’s motor.

6

6. The Star Wars prequels used computer animation to create legions of Clone Troopers
No physical suit of armor was ever built for the Clone Troopers in the prequels. Every single Clone Trooper was computer animated.

7

7. Yoda has no determined species.
Yoda’s species has never been named. A mystery, it is.

8

8. “I have a bad feeling about this” became a running gag for the franchise.
The phrase “I have a bad feeling about this” or “I have a very bad feeling about this” is said in every Star Wars movie

9

*9. E.T. was in The Phantom Menace — sort of.
The alien race of E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial makes an appearance in Episode I: The Phantom Menace — officially connecting the worlds of Lucas and Spielberg sci-fi. A senator and his delegation from planet Brodo Asogi are present in the Grand Convocation Chamber when Queen Amidala calls for a vote of no confidence.

These were the facts for Star Wars, if you liked it, stay tuned for the next…

Weird Facts Show #4

Welcome to another Weird Facts Show. Based on the poll results, today i am bringing you the ‘infamous’ F * R * I * E * N * D * S Let’s proceed…

1

1. FRIENDS were originally called “Insomnia Cafe” (and a bunch of other things)
In the early 1990s, Friends co-creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman wrote a seven-page pitch for a new sitcom titled Insomnia Café . In addition to the different title, the plot itself was quite different from what came to be known as Friends . For example, Ross and Rachel weren’t the key relationship; instead, Joey and Monica were supposed to be love interests.

After NBC bought the pilot, the title became Friends Like Us . NBC president Warren Littlefield came up with another title that was also considered, Across the Hall . By the time they shot it, the title had switched again to Six of One . When the show premiered on September 22, 1994, they had finally landed on simply Friends .

2

2. The cast could have been completely different.
With a cast of six people, it’s not a surprise that many different actors were considered for each role. For example, Kathy Griffin and Jane Lynch actually became friends after meeting while both were auditioning for the part of Phoebe.

Both Jon Favreau and Jon Cryer were considered for the role of Chandler before it went to Matthew Perry, but Perry almost didn’t get the gig either. During the 1994 pilot season, he filmed the pilot for a show called LAX 2194 in addition to Friends . The show would have been about baggage handlers at LAX who sorted aliens’ luggage. Thankfully, it wasn’t picked up, and Perry was able to take the Friends gig.

Before the show premiered, Courteney Cox was probably the most famous cast member. She was known for many commercials plus Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark” music video. The Friends producers originally asked her to play Rachel, but she requested the role of Monica because she liked the “strong” character.

3

3. The opening credits weren’t shot in New York.
Don’t let your New York City tour guide trick you into thinking that you’re looking at the fountain from the iconic opening credits of Friends —unless you’ve brought your tour guide with you to Burbank for some reason. Although the fountain looks a lot like Central Park’s Pulitzer Fountain, the actual shoot occurred on a Warner Bros. lot.

4

4. Lisa Kudrow didn’t know how to play the guitar.
“I didn’t like the guitar,” Lisa Kudrow later recalled about Phoebe Buffay’s chosen musical instrument. “I wasn’t getting it. So I think I even asked, ‘What if she plays the bongos?’” They ended up bringing a guitar teacher in, but that didn’t last long. Kudrow learned a couple of chords, then announced that she was done with the lessons. She decided that Phoebe would only know a handful of chords anyway. And thank goodness because “Smelly Cat” is perfect just the way it is.

5

5. It was filmed in front of a live audience.
Shooting an episode of Friends was a lengthy process, typically lasting five hours, with multiple takes per scene and 20 minutes between scenes to change sets. Still, the show was filmed in front of a live audience made up of 300 fans. And that’s the way the cast preferred it. “It’s kind of like a test to see if the material works, if the jokes work, if the story tracks,” LeBlanc said. Perry agreed, “Our energy just elevates every time there’s an audience.”

6

6. Kudrow’s pregnancy was written into the show, but Cox’s was not.
Kudrow got pregnant with her son, Julian Murray, in 1997. Kudrow was dubious about Phoebe getting pregnant too, but the writers decided to have Phoebe act as a surrogate for her brother’s triplets. On the other hand, in the final season, Cox was pregnant with her daughter, Coco Arquette. This was not written into the show for an obvious reason: the series had already established that Chandler and Monica couldn’t have kids. So, they hid Cox’s pregnancy to the best of their abilities with costumes and props.

7

7. The cast had a huddle before every episode.
Every week before filming commenced, the cast would get together for a moment to prepare for the show. This was the moment that Schwimmer was dreading before the finale because he knew it would make him emotional. “I started to lose it in this ritual that we had before the show," he said, "which is just a group hug, kind of get in a little circle, right before we come out. And that was the moment I was dreading for a long time because I knew that moment of just looking at everyone in their eyes, and saying ‘Have a good show,’ and knowing that was the last time we were going to be able to be in our little circle.”

8

8. Matthee Perry struggled an addiction during production.
In 1997, Perry went to rehab for an addiction to prescription drugs and alcohol. He went again in 2001. He later told People , “I was never high at work. I was painfully hung over. Then eventually things got so bad I couldn’t hide it and everybody knew.”

9

9. Jeniffer Aniston almost didn’t return for the last season.
By the time the show ended, Aniston was arguably the most famous cast member thanks to films like The Good Girl and Bruce Almighty . Her then-husband, Brad Pitt, didn’t hurt her celebrity status either. With that fame came the rumors that she was almost responsible for the show ending prematurely. In a 2004 interview, Aniston admitted that she had hesitations. “I had a couple issues that I was dealing with,” she said. “I wanted it to end when people still loved us and we were on a high. And then I was also feeling like, ‘How much more of Rachel do I have in me?’” She eventually agreed to the final season.

10

10. It featured a lot of future stars
In addition to making household names of its main cast members, Friends gave an early start to several soon-to-be stars as well. Among the now-familiar faces you might see if you rewatch the series, including Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo, Melora Hardin and Craig Robinson from The Office, and Riverdale 's Cole Sprouse.

These were the facts for FRIENDS, if you like it stay tuned for the next…

Until next time.

Weird Facts Show #5

Welcome to another weird facts show. Based on the poll results, this time is about the one and only Annabelle

Let’s start…

1

1. 81% Approval Rating on Rotten Tomatoes
Yup, the movie’s got some rock-solid reviews. Just so you know, the first Annabelle in 2014 has got only a 29% approval rating. It’s like three times the horror, no?

2

2. Based on a True Story
There’s supposedly a REAL-LIFE haunted “Raggedy Ann” doll in The Warrens’ Occult Museum out in Connecticut, though it doesn’t look that scary. Annabelle’s considered the creepiest doll in movie history by many movie-goers.

3

3. Somebody Apparently Opened Annabelle’s Box in the Museum…
The instructions were clear – do not open. You can see from the image above that it says “Danger! Do not touch anything!” A man opened the box and touched the doll, and even challenged her to “do her worst”. Rumour is that he died the next day in a motorbike accident. His girlfriend survived, but she spent a year in the hospital to heal from her injuries.

4

4. One of the Producers is Malaysian
Yep, James Wan is from Kuching, Sarawak, although his nationality is now Australian since he moved there as a college kid. He’s behind some of the scariest movies – Saw, Conjuring, Demonic and Insidious too!

Now there are some facts about the real Annabelle doll

5

5. Origins of evil
In 1970, a woman purchased a Raggedy Ann doll in a second-hand store as a Christmas present for her daughter, Donna, a nursing student in Hartford, Connecticut. Donna kept the doll on her bed. Everything seemed quite innocent until Donna brought Annabelle to the kitchen for breakfast table where the doll straightened out her arms and put them on the table. From there, things only became weirder. Soon, Donna and her roommate Angie often came home to find Annabelle on the couch when she’d been left locked in Donna’s room.

6

6. The ghost of a little girl
After a month of Annabelle’s eerie antics, Donna decided to contact a medium. The psychic told Donna and Angie that a 7-year-old girl named Annabelle had been tragically slain on the apartment property. The child had taken residence inside Donna’s doll. Annabelle felt comfortable with Donna and Angie. The young nurses, already compassionate souls, decided that there was no harm in welcoming Annabelle into their home.

7

7. A multi-talented menace
If they ever hold a talent competition for possessed dolls, Annabelle would sweep every category. Standing, kneeling, pivoting on one leg, levitating and even manifesting droplets of blood are only a few of her demonic gifts. At the height of her powers, Annabelle also proved to be a prolific writer, composing cryptic notes on parchment paper.

These were the facts for Annabelle, stay tuned for the next…

Until next time

Weird Facts Show #6

Welcome to another weird facts show! I know it’s been a while but i’m bacc and ready to start with Harry Potter

Let’s proceed…

1

1. Hagrid was never going to die
Yes, according to Rowling, the loveable gamekeeper was always going to be in the series from start to finish – with the author picturing him carrying a ‘dead’ Harry during a Hogwarts battle before she had even written Deathly Hallows. This was intended to mirror Hagrid bringing Harry into the wizarding world in the first place in Philosopher’s Stone.

2

2. Wizards hate wearing trousers
The International Statute of Secrecy has clear guidelines on what wizards really should be wearing while out and about among Muggles – which should be ‘Muggle standard’, climate appropriate, as close as possible to the fashion of the day, and definitely not very wizard-looking robes. However, some wizards enjoy disregarding this rule, and are particularly averse to how constricting trousers are.

3

3. Dolores Umbridge ended up in Azkaban for her cruel deeds
As you might hope, Umbridge did not get away with her horrible ways – but in the Harry Potter books, we never found out exactly what happened. Don’t worry, in an interview J.K. Rowling confirmed that Umbridge did indeed get imprisoned for her actions at the Ministry of Magic.

We imagine there are no cat plates in Azkaban.

4

4. A Proposed title for the American version of philosopher’s stone was ‘Harry Potter And The School Of Magic’.
Rowling turned that down, saying, according to American publisher Arthur Levine, “No—that doesn’t feel right to me … What if we called it the Sorcerer’s Stone ?” (The French edition, Levine points out in J.K. Rowling: A Bibliography , is called Harry Potter a L’ecole Des Sorciers .)

5

5. Rowling made complicated outlines for the books.
You can see a partial outline for Order of the Phoenix above. The outline has chapter titles, a general outline of the plot, and then more specific plot points for certain characters. (Based on this outline, it looks like Rowling thought about calling Dolores Umbridge Elvira Umbridge instead!)

6

6. Arthur Weasley was supposed to die.
In a battle between good and evil this epic, not everyone would make it through alive—that would have led to “very fluffy, cozy books,” she told Meredith Vieira. “You know, suddenly I [would be] halfway through Goblet of Fire and suddenly everyone would just have a really great life and … the plot would go AWOL.”

Which is not to say that Rowling knew exactly who was on the chopping block. She thought about killing Arthur Weasley after he’s attacked by Nagini in Order of the Phoenix , but instead opted to save him, partly because “there were very few good fathers in the book. In fact, you could make a very good case for Arthur Weasley being the only good father in the whole series.” (She also “seriously considered” killing Ron, then thought better of it.)

7

7. Haley Joel could have played Harry Potter.
When Steven Spielberg was attached to direct the film adaptation, he wanted Sixth Sense star Haley Joel Osment to play Harry. But the director eventually left over a creative clash with Rowling, and new director Chris Columbus had to find his star. Some 300 kids tested for Harry Potter over a period of seven months; Jonathan Lipnicki ( Jerry McGuire ) even expressed interest. “There were times when we felt we would never find an individual who embodied the complex spirit and depth of Harry,” Columbus said.

Then, one night, Heyman went to the theater with screenwriter SteveKloves (who ended up penning all but one of the Potter scripts). “There sitting behind me was this boy with these big blue eyes. It was Dan Radcliffe,” he told HeroComplex in 2009. “I remember my first impressions: He was curious and funny and so energetic. There was real generosity too, and sweetness. But at the same time he was really voracious and with hunger for knowledge of whatever kind.” He persuaded Radcliffe’s parents to let their son audition, and the rest is history.

These were the facts for Harry Potter, stay tuned for the next!

Until next time
