Toothache: what is the best thing to do?

If you have a toothache, what is the best way to treat the pain?

I tried taking painkillers but it never worked, so I just eat ice cream

Oh, hate that so much!
Make sure to go to the dentist of course and take some painkillers. Don’t know anything else that could help

Well if it really hurts and you think it might be serious you should definitely go to the dentist.

However here are some other tips that might help as well.

  • Take over the counter pain medication
  • Rinse your mouth with warm salt water
  • Put an ice pack beside your cheek for numb the affected area
  • Keep a record of your pain
  • Keep your teeth clean

Assuming that you can’t go to the dentist for some reason (like it’s a day or two until the appointment)

Take some medicine, like ibuprofen.
Sometimes lightly biting down on something can help. It changes the pressure which can relieve it sometimes. Sometimes it might help to bite where it hurts, but sometimes it’s better to bite on something on the other side of your mouth.

You don’t have to write some kind of pain journal or something, but informing your dentist how long you have been experiencing pain and if you are still experiencing it can be helpful for them. As well if it has gotten worse or not :tooth: :sparkles:
